Positive results in firecracker prevention and control
(Baonghean) - During the Lunar New Year, localities in the province have done a good job of propaganda, mobilization and increased patrols, resolutely handling subjects who store, transport, trade and set off firecrackers. Thanks to that, this year's At Mui Spring, the situation of setting off firecrackers in the province has significantly reduced.
Vinh City is identified as one of the complicated areas in terms of firecrackers during Tet. Determined not to let firecrackers explode on New Year's Eve, from the 26th of Tet, Colonel Nguyen Huu Cau, Deputy Director of the Provincial Police Department, directly worked with Vinh City Police to deploy firecracker prevention and control plans on New Year's Eve. From the afternoon of the 30th of Tet until the end of New Year's Eve, the city police force was present at all hot spots to strengthen control of firecrackers.
Reinforced forces from the Provincial Police came to the area to participate in cross-patrols to promptly detect and prevent acts of setting off fireworks. In Nghi Phu commune, Colonel Mai Chien Thang, Deputy Head of Vinh City Police, personally led a working group to regularly conduct armed patrols at hot spots to promptly detect subjects intending to set off fireworks. In addition, 18 teams handling and guiding the work of preventing and combating violations of fireworks of Vinh City Police also spread throughout the localities to resolutely repel the sound of fireworks. Thanks to that, the situation of setting off fireworks on New Year's Eve and Tet holidays has decreased significantly. Many hot spots in the past have become truly peaceful.

In Yen Thanh district, before New Year's Eve, the district police force seized more than 20 kg of various types of firecrackers, opened a case, and prosecuted one suspect. On New Year's Eve, implementing the plan, the district police coordinated with the police and authorities of the communes to establish 4 working groups, 2 continuous patrol shifts to ensure security and order and combat the use of firecrackers. "The district identified a complex focal point for firecrackers as Do Thanh commune. On New Year's Eve, a working group of 6 comrades was present in Do Thanh commune and neighboring areas to promptly prevent and combat the use of firecrackers. In addition, 4 working groups were also present in the areas to promptly handle violations. Therefore, this year's Tet holiday, Yen Thanh was almost silent with firecrackers" - Lieutenant Colonel Doan Van Tac, Deputy Head of Yen Thanh District Police, affirmed.
In other localities such as Dien Chau, Quynh Luu, Hoang Mai Town, Cua Lo, in previous years, they were still considered hot spots for fireworks during Tet, because this was the area where fireworks were smuggled into Nghe An by sea, which was complicated. This year, the police forces in these localities have stepped up prevention since mid-year, resolutely handling subjects with acts of storing, transporting, and trading fireworks to block the supply during Tet. On New Year's Eve, the police in all localities deployed 100% of their troops to the area to prevent the burning of fireworks. Thanks to that, the burning of fireworks and the releasing of sky lanterns has decreased significantly compared to previous years. Many villages and hamlets were "clean" of fireworks on New Year's Eve. In mountainous districts such as Thanh Chuong, Anh Son, Tan Ky, Nghia Dan, thanks to proactive propaganda and fierce fighting against acts of buying, selling, storing, and transporting prohibited goods during Tet, security and order have been ensured.
To have a peaceful spring, reducing the sound of firecrackers on New Year's Eve, Nghe An Police organized police units and localities to sign a commitment with the Provincial Police Department not to let firecrackers or sky lanterns happen. Police in districts, cities and towns all mobilized 100% of their forces, special task forces operated regularly, coordinated with the civilian protection force to organize patrols and blockades on the roads to ensure security and order, fight against acts of racing, weaving, and swerving on the roads, and fight against illegal use of firecrackers. On the morning of the 28th of Tet, Colonel Lu Van Tuong, Deputy Director of the Provincial Police Department chaired an emergency meeting, established 5 inspection teams, and guided the work of preventing and combating violations related to firecrackers on New Year's Eve of the Lunar New Year At Mui 2015.
Immediately after the meeting, the delegations immediately returned to their assigned bases to direct the prevention and control of firecrackers. During the 9 days of Tet, the functional forces conducted 439 patrols to control traffic safety, prevent and combat crimes, and prevent and combat firecrackers with the participation of nearly 1,500 officers and soldiers, handling 485 cases of traffic safety violations and many cases of violations of order and security... In particular, during the 9 days of Tet, the police force focused on fighting, preventing, detecting and arresting 35 cases, 48 subjects illegally buying, selling, transporting, and storing, confiscating 81.4 kg of various types of firecrackers, and mobilizing the handover of 11.2 kg of firecrackers. Before Tet, the police forces of units and localities discovered and arrested 260 cases, 352 subjects, and confiscated 1.82 tons of firecrackers. In addition to the Chinese fireworks smuggled into Vietnam by sea and road, there has been a situation of domestic fireworks production. The police force has discovered and arrested a number of subjects illegally producing fireworks, prosecuted 42 cases, 57 defendants related to fireworks, tried 30 cases, 45 defendants; handled 124 administrative violations, 182 subjects, currently investigating and consolidating the files of 94 cases, 113 subjects to handle according to the provisions of law.
Colonel Lu Van Tuong, Deputy Director of Nghe An Police, affirmed that the work of preventing and combating firecrackers is the responsibility of all people, with different characteristics from other types of criminal offenses. Therefore, in order to have a peaceful Spring with no more firecrackers on New Year's Eve, the police force has done a good job of propaganda, coordinating with local people in handing over all types of firecrackers, preventing their children from setting off firecrackers... Although on New Year's Eve, the sound of firecrackers has stopped, the situation of firecrackers has decreased significantly compared to previous years and Nghe An is one of the localities highly appreciated in preventing and combating firecrackers during Tet, but the situation of violating the law on firecrackers still has potential complex risks. Tet has passed, but the Spring festivals continue to take place, Nghe An Police are continuing to strengthen their forces, ready to be present at hot spots to ensure security and order for people to enjoy a safe and joyful Spring, in order to bring a truly peaceful Spring to everyone, every home.
