(Baonghean) - According to the forecast of the Central Hydrometeorological Center, storm No. 11, internationally named Nari, is approaching the Central region of our country. To ensure the safety of fishermen operating in fishing grounds, Quynh Luu district is actively directing localities and Border Guard stations in the area to urgently call on owners of operating vehicles to return to safe places to avoid and take shelter from the storm.

While fishing in the East Sea, Mr. Ho Su Nha, owner of the NA94469TS vessel with a capacity of 420CV in Quynh Nghia commune, received news that a new storm had crossed Luzon Island (Philippines) into the East Sea and become storm number 11. Immediately, he and all the crew members on the vessel quickly packed up their nets, fishing gear and equipment to return to the mainland in time to avoid the storm. On the morning of October 13, his fishing vessel docked at Lach Quen port. Mr. Nha said: "Hearing the coastal information station predicting storm number 11 entering the East Sea, the crew members gathered together to take shelter from the storm a day in advance."

Not only Ho Su Nha's fishing boat, but currently, all fishing boats in the East Sea are urgently looking for ways to return to a safe place to avoid the storm. Phan Minh Tai, a fisherman from Quynh Tien commune, who has just arrived at Lach Quen port, said that immediately after receiving a call from the coastal information station and Border Guard Station 148 informing him that storm No. 11 had formed and was approaching the East Sea of ​​our country, Tai and all crew members quickly ran to Lach Quen port to take shelter. Thanks to the urgent work and timely calls for boats in advance, most of the boats of Quynh Luu fishermen are returning to ports and estuaries to avoid the storm.

Immediately after receiving news of storm No. 11, Major Hoang Van Ha, Deputy of Lach Quen Control Station, was on duty 24/7 to grasp the storm's developments. At the same time, he controlled the number of ships anchored to have a timely call-out plan. Major Hoang Van Ha said: "Currently, our station is focusing on monitoring the storm's developments and contacting the owner of the gang to call on all means to return to a safe storm shelter."

Currently, Border Guard Station 148, located in Quynh Thuan commune, Quynh Luu district, is managing two control stations: Lach Quen Control Station and Lach Thoi Control Station. Lach Quen Control Station alone manages 695 vehicles with nearly 4,400 workers. As of 2:00 p.m. on October 13, the station still had 186 vehicles with 2,264 workers on their way to shore. At Lach Thoi Control Station, 148 vehicles with 1,184 workers were also called to shore. To continue calling on ships operating at sea to promptly return to storm shelters, Border Guard Station 148 has notified the owners of the vehicles by phone or via walkie-talkies of the ship-to-ship teams to promptly notify the fishermen.

Mr. Nguyen Xuan Dinh - Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Quynh Luu district said: "The People's Committee and the Flood and Storm Prevention Committee of the district have issued Official Dispatch No. 11, dated October 12, 2013, using all means to contact and call on fishing boats offshore to return to safe shelters. Directing the Quynh Thuan Border Guard Station together with communes with anchorage areas, to guide boats to anchor safely when returning to port; directing localities with lakes and dams to urgently check the situation of lakes and dams; the water storage situation to have plans to prevent floods and storms as well as take precautions when there is heavy rain to ensure the best safety...".

With the active and proactive measures of the Flood and Storm Prevention Committee of Quynh Luu district before storm No. 11 makes landfall, especially the self-awareness of each person, the damage caused by storms and rains will be minimized.
