Overcoming sea dike landslides in Dien Chau in October 2024
That is the affirmative response of the Traffic Works Management Board (Department of Transport) to the information that the sea dike in Dien Hung commune (Dien Chau) continued to erode after heavy rain.
Before continuing to be eroded after heavy rain on September 23 and 24, due to the collapse of the culvert across the sea dike, the sea dike section through Hung Phong village, Dien Hung commune was eroded since the end of June 2024. In response to storm No. 4, on September 15, the People's Committee of Dien Chau district temporarily repaired the situation by using soil and rocks to fill the eroded area. However, after only nearly a week, due to heavy rain, the above dike continued to erode again.

Mr. Le The Hieu - Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Dien Chau district, said: After receiving the information, the district assigned the commune and the construction unit to organize instructions on traffic diversion to limit traffic on the Dien Hung sea dike; at the same time, issued a document urging the coastal road construction unit to urgently develop a construction plan to rebuild the culvert through the dike and then fill and restore the eroded sea dike site in Dien Hung commune.

To completely overcome the situation of landslides and subsidence at the Dien Hung sea dike, Mr. Le Manh Hien - Vice Chairman of Dien Chau District People's Committee said that the only way is to dig up the dike body, rebuild the drainage culvert, then fill and restore the dike body according to the design. According to the provisions of the Law on Dike Management, it is currently the peak of the rainy and stormy season, so units cannot arbitrarily dig and cut the dike body for construction and if they do not build new culverts and organize to block the culverts, it will cause flooding inside the fields, and people will react.

Mr. Phan Binh - Deputy Director of the Traffic Project Management Board (Nghe An Department of Transport), which is the unit managing the contractors constructing coastal roads, shared more: The Board has just approved the construction plan for the culvert across the collapsed dike on the Dien Hung sea dike. This item, along with a number of items that are committed to be returned after the construction of the sea dike from Dien Kim commune (Dien Chau) - Quynh Tho commune (Quynh Luu), the construction documents are in the bidding stage.

In the near future, after the bidding results are available, taking advantage of the sunny weather conditions, the Steering Committee and the supervising units will carry out the construction and refund in October 2024 according to the design and commitment to the districts.
