Customers report 'strange creatures' in flour packages sold at Metro Vinh supermarket

(Baonghean.vn) – Buying a package of Dai Phong Red Apple flour at Metro Vinh Supermarket, but when opening it to use, Mr. Thai Huy Loi (Hung Chinh commune, Vinh city) discovered many strange animals in the product.

On the afternoon of July 11, through the hotline, Nghe An Newspaper received a complaint from Mr. Thai Huy Loi (born in 1970, residing in Hamlet 8, Hung Chinh Commune (Vinh City) about Metro Vinh Supermarket (Ben Thuy Ward, Vinh City) selling poor quality goods to customers.

Many strange creatures were in the flour package that Mr. Loi said he bought at Metro Vinh supermarket.

According to Mr. Loi, on the evening of July 9, he and his wife and children went to Metro Vinh supermarket and bought many products there. Among them, he bought a package of Dai Phong Red Apple flour for 20,500 VND. On July 11, when he took out the package of flour to use, he discovered many strange creatures crawling around inside the product.

Immediately after that, he called the manufacturer's phone number printed on the packaging and was told by the other side that it was a security number and did not say anything more. Too upset, he brought the product to Metro Vinh supermarket hoping to receive a satisfactory answer.

“When I complained, an employee said the product was moldy and had organisms inside. I disagreed, so the employees said they would resolve the issue for me by exchanging the product for a new one or refunding my money. I think that way of handling the issue is irresponsible,” said Mr. Loi.

Directly observing the product, the flour package was opened. Inside were many strange animals crawling around. The packaging clearly stated that the product had a production date of May 30, 2016 and an expiration date of May 30, 2017. The place of production was Dai Phong Trading Co., Ltd., located at Lot 32C/I, Road 2G, Vinh Loc Industrial Park, Binh Chanh District, Ho Chi Minh City.

Currently, the flour package has been sealed by Metro Vinh supermarket and delivered to the customer, awaiting handling instructions.

After receiving the customer's feedback, the representative of Metro Vinh supermarket made a record of the incident. The record clearly stated: "The condition of the flour package when delivered was opened and a little used. We also recorded the customer's feedback and committed to exchange or return it according to regulations."

According to Mr. Loi, the supermarket staff said they would report the incident to the supermarket director, and at the same time, consult with the manufacturer about the incident and will notify customers as soon as possible.

“I am not complaining because I want a refund, but I want the manufacturer and the supplier, Metro Vinh supermarket, to be more responsible to customers. Because no one knows how many products with the same condition as the flour package I bought have reached consumers. Therefore, the manufacturer must recall the entire batch to ensure the health of consumers,” said Mr. Loi.
