Opening ceremony of Ho Tong Thoc temple
(Baonghean.vn) - As scheduled, on the 9th and 10th of January, the people of Tho Thanh commune, Yen Thanh district (Nghe An) in coordination with the People's Committee of the commune and the Ho family solemnly organized the temple festival to worship the first-ranking scholar Ho Thong Thoc.
In the first days of the new year, along with thousands of festivals across the country, the Ho family in Tam Tho village, Tho Thanh commune solemnly held a festival to commemorate the merits of their ancestors, to look back to the origins of the nation, and to educate the younger generation to remember their origins.
Legend has it that the first-ranked scholar Ho Tong Thoc became the first-ranked scholar, opening the way for the famous imperial examination system of the Ho Tam Cong family, bringing glory to the Ho family and to the homeland of Vietnam.
He was an official with the title of Royal Academy Scholar and concurrently held the position of Judge of the Court of Justice. Ho Tong Don and Ho Tong Thanh, his sons and grandsons, also passed the imperial examinations and made many contributions to the country. They were awarded many royal decrees by the Le and Nguyen dynasties. Currently, the church still preserves 22 royal decrees and a number of valuable historical and artistic objects. Thus, in addition to being a place to worship Ho Tong Thoc, the relic is also a place to commemorate a number of relics and the affection of his descendants, friends and the former state towards him.

With the characteristics, nature and importance of the relic, on January 25, 1991, the Ministry of Culture and Information issued Decision No. 154/QD-VH recognizing the Ho Tong Thoc Temple Relic as a National Historical - Cultural Relic.This is the honor and pride of the Ho family in particular, the people of Tho Thanh commune, and the people of Yen Thanh district in general.
Every year, with the consent of Yen Thanh District People's Committee, Tho Thanh Commune People's Committee coordinates with Ho Tam Cong family to open Ho Tong Thoc temple festival so that people and descendants of Ho family from all over the country can come to burn incense and remember their roots.
