Opening of the 3rd Central Press Football Tournament

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of June 4, the opening ceremony of the 3rd Central Press Football Tournament - 2016 took place in Vinh city.

Members of the Provincial Party Committee: Le Minh Thong - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Ho Phuc Hop - Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department and representatives of the Provincial Youth Union and Vietnam Journalists Association of Nghe An province attended.

This year's tournament has the participation of 8 teams, the largest ever.

The Central Press Football Tournament started in 2014, aiming to strengthen the close relationship between journalists in the provinces and cities of the Central region through sports activities; creating opportunities for exchanges and meetings between journalists and leaders of press agencies in the area from Thanh Hoa to Khanh Hoa on the occasion of the anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day June 21.

Comrade Le Minh Thong, member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, delivered a speech welcoming the press teams to the tournament.

2016 is the third tournament, the Nghe An Press Alliance is the defending champion, the host unit. This year's tournament has the participation of 8 teams from the following localities: Hanoi, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Thua Thien Hue and Da Nang.

Comrade Ho Phuc Hop, Standing Committee Member, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department, presented flowers to the participating football teams.

This year's tournament will take place over two days, June 4 and 5, with 16 matches. The teams will compete in a round-robin format, scoring points, and selecting the top two teams from each group to compete in the final match to determine the best and second place.
