Opening of the 16th Nghe An Province Phu Dong Sports Festival - 2014
(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of March 16, at the Vinh City Sports Competition Center, the Department of Education and Training coordinated with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to organize the 16th Phu Dong Sports Festival - 2014.
The 2014 Nghe An Province Phu Dong Sports Festival took place from March 16 to 20 with the participation of nearly 1,400 athletes from primary, secondary and high schools of 21 districts, cities and towns in the province, competing in 8 events: athletics, table tennis, badminton, chess, shuttlecock kicking, volleyball, football and crossbow shooting.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Thai Huy Vinh - Deputy Director of the Provincial Department of Education and Training emphasized: Phu Dong Sports Festival is a major cultural and sports exchange festival for teenagers and children in the whole province, thereby evaluating the results of physical education in schools, gradually improving the quality of school sports and contributing to improving the quality of comprehensive education. This is also an opportunity to discover students' sports talents, select and train additional talented students of the province to participate in the 9th National Phu Dong Sports Festival in 2015 in the home province and Thanh Hoa province.
Right after the ceremony was an art performance to welcome the Phu Dong Sports Festival with the participation of students from schools in Vinh City.
The 16th Provincial Phu Dong Sports Festival 2014 closed on March 20.
