Opening of the International Security Conference in the Russian Federation
The annual international conference on security opened on July 3 in the city of Vladivostok, Russia, attracting the participation of nearly 300 senior security officials from 83 countries around the world.
The two-day conference, July 3-4, will discuss international cooperation issues in the fields of anti-money laundering, enhancing international and regional transport security, as well as information security and cyber security.
In his opening speech at the Conference, the Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of Russia in the Far Eastern Federal District and Minister for the Development of the Far East, Viktor Ishayev, stated that in the context of the global financial crisis that continues to negatively impact the international community, the urgent task is to minimize the influence of criminals in economic activities, ensure the security of free circulation of goods and services, and prevent criminals from earning illegal income.
According to Mr. Ishayev, only with joint efforts can countries ensure safe and sustainable economic development.
Mr. Ishayev particularly emphasized the role of the Russian Far East in establishing and strengthening relations with countries in the Asia-Pacific region to achieve the goal of attracting 300 billion USD in foreign investment into the region's economy in the near future./.
