Opening of international conference on Ho Chi Minh heritage

The international scientific conference “Ho Chi Minh’s Heritage in the Present Age” to celebrate the 120th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh’s birth opened in Hanoi on the morning of May 12.

The conference was attended by 55 international delegates, including scientists and socio-political activists from China, Cuba, Russia, France, India, North Korea, UK, Bangladesh, Brazil, Bulgaria, Chile, South Korea, USA, Hungary, Indonesia, Mexico, Philippines, Thailand and Venezuela.

There are also nearly 400 theoretical research scientists, leaders, managers, lecturers and researchers from academies and universities across the country.

Speaking at the opening session, National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Phu Trong affirmed that President Ho Chi Minh was a genius leader and great teacher of the Vietnamese revolution, a staunch revolutionary soldier and a very close friend of the peoples of the world. He left behind a huge fortune, an extremely valuable legacy, which is Ho Chi Minh's thought, the Ho Chi Minh era and Ho Chi Minh's moral example and style.

Today, under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the entire Vietnamese people continue to adhere to Marxism-Leninism and Ho Chi Minh Thought, are making every effort to promote Ho Chi Minh's legacy, comprehensively promote the renovation process, carry out industrialization, modernization, and international integration.

At the opening session, Ms. Katherine Muller Marin, Chief Representative of UNESCO Office in Vietnam, highlighted the great contributions of President Ho Chi Minh to UNESCO's fields of activities such as culture, cultural heritage conservation, communications, gender equality, environment, tree planting and forest protection...

Ms. Katherine Muller Marin emphasized that in the cultural field, President Ho Chi Minh, besides being a poet, was very interested in protecting and preserving heritage. He was also interested in restoring many traditional art forms throughout the country.

Throughout his life, President Ho Chi Minh was always concerned about women's issues. He also wrote in his Will that the Party and Government should have plans to ensure that more and more women participate in all areas of activity, including leadership, and that women need to strive to advance.

Taking place over two days, May 12-13, the workshop focused on deepening, clarifying, and discovering new perceptions of Ho Chi Minh's Heritage for today's era according to three groups of issues: Ho Chi Minh's heritage on national independence and socialism; Ho Chi Minh's heritage on peace, friendship, and cooperation among nations; and cultural, ethical, and personality issues in Ho Chi Minh's Heritage.

The workshop was organized by Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics and Public Administration.
