The contest had nearly 130 artisans from 19 kite clubs nationwide competing in 6 categories including single-string kite, group kite, controlled kite, international Rokkaku kite, flute kite and team kite flying.

Although this is only the second time the contest has been held, it has gathered most of the units with a tradition of kite flying in the country such as Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Hue, Nam Dinh, Quang Nam, Hai Phong, Dong Nai....

With nearly 200 kites, the artisans created a colorful picture in the Back Beach area, Vung Tau city.

The kite flying competition is held to honor the art of making and flying kites as a unique feature of Vietnamese folk culture.

This is also an opportunity to promote to local people and tourists the long-standing cultural, elegant and healthy hobby, creating a useful and interesting playground for artisans and kite lovers to show their talents during the competition.

The contest is also an opportunity for localities to review the organization and select beautiful kites to perform and introduce at the International Kite Festival to be held in Ba Ria-Vung Tau in April 2014.

The 2nd Vietnam Kite Flying Competition 2013 took place on December 7 and 8./.
