Opening of the 2017 Lotus Village Festival

(Baonghean.vn) – On the evening of May 17, at Lang Sen Stadium (Kim Lien, Nam Dan), Nghe An Provincial People's Committee held the opening ceremony of Lang Sen Festival 2017, commemorating the 127th birthday of President Ho Chi Minh (May 19, 1890 - May 19, 2017).

Before the opening ceremony of the festival, the delegation of provincial leaders and departments, branches and sectors respectfully offered incense and flowers to commemorate President Ho Chi Minh at Kim Lien Relic Site; expressing their infinite gratitude for the great contributions of President Ho Chi Minh - the genius leader of our Party and people, an outstanding activist of the international communist and workers' movement.

The Festival Organizing Committee, mass art troupes from 8 provinces and cities: Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Cao Bang, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Thanh Hoa, Thua Thien Hue and athletes from districts, cities and towns in the province participating in the 2017 Sen Village Festival offered flowers at the Uncle Ho Statue in Ho Chi Minh Square; marched from Ho Chi Minh Square to offer incense at Kim Lien Relic Site; and participated in the procession of Uncle Ho's photo from the Relic Site to Sen Village Stadium.

The Lotus Village Festival originated from the “Singing from Lotus Village” Festival, which was first held in May 1982. It was then upgraded to the Lotus Village Festival, held annually at the provincial level and every five years at the national level.

The festival is held to honor the ideological and moral values ​​of Ho Chi Minh. After 36 years of formation and development, the Sen Village Festival has become a major festival for the people of Nghe An in particular and the people of the whole country in general.

Through its activities, the Sen Village Festival has created conditions for people to enjoy and create cultural values, promote the movement of studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style, contributing to building Vietnamese culture and people to meet the requirements of development.

This year, the Lotus Village Festival is held at the provincial level. The opening speech by comrade Le Minh Thong - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee stated: The Lotus Village Festival 2017 is an opportunity for us to express our boundless gratitude for the great contributions of President Ho Chi Minh and honor his ideological values.

The 2017 Lotus Village Festival is an opportunity for the entire Party, the entire army and the entire people to more deeply realize their responsibilities, thereby promoting the spirit of solidarity and unity within the Party and among the people, turning the feelings and pride of each person into specific and practical revolutionary actions contributing to the construction of the country.

The highlight of the opening night of the 2017 Sen Village Festival was the art program “Flower altars for Uncle Ho” with songs praising Uncle Ho, praising the Party and love for the homeland performed by professional and non-professional art troupes.

The 2017 Sen Village Festival takes place over 4 days (May 16 – May 19, 2017) with many diverse activities including the Sen Village Festival volleyball tournament, film screenings on the subject of Uncle Ho, photo exhibitions on the subject of the Party and Uncle Ho, the "Youth following Uncle Ho's words" camp, offering flowers and incense, the Rivers Connecting Folk Song Festival, mass art performances...

As planned, the 2017 Lotus Village Festival will close at Ho Chi Minh Square (Vinh City) on the evening of May 19.
