Opening of the 2014 International Art Kite Festival
150 leading kite artists from 22 countries and territories attended the 2014 International Kite Art Festival.
On May 9, in Vung Tau city, Ba Ria - Vung Tau province, the 5th International Kite Art Festival 2014 officially opened with the theme "Flying with Vietnam". 150 leading kite artists from 22 countries and territories (on 5 continents) attended.

This year's festival promises to bring visitors impressive kite performances, imbued with the cultural identity of the countries, and at the same time gather many kite artists from strong countries, such as: Germany, Denmark, Netherlands, France, England, India, Philippines, China, Hong Kong (China), Cambodia, Laos...
Vietnam has 6 groups from 3 regions of the country with typical kites such as: flute kites (North), traditional Hue kites (Central), modern kites based on aerodynamic principles (South)... This year's Festival also has many contents such as: Rokkaku kite competitions, art kites, flute kites, single-string kites with bones, kites without bones, 2-string and 4-string kites...
The festival will also organize classes on kite creation and kite making by foreign artisans. In particular, the first appearance of Uncle Teu’s kite (10m long, 2m wide) and Fairy’s kite (12m long, 2m wide) will be one of the new features of this festival. The festival will last until May 11./.
