(Baonghean.vn) - On the evening of December 25, at Nghia Dan district square, Nghe An Provincial People's Committee held the opening ceremony of the Sunflower Festival and the Western Spring Festival.

Attending the gala were representatives of leaders of several central ministries and branches. On the side of Nghe An province, there were comrade Le Minh Thong - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, representatives of leaders of departments, branches and localities in the province; representatives of twinned localities with Nghia Dan district, namely Ba To district (Quang Ngai), Eka (Dak Lak), Nhu Xuan (Thanh Hoa); representatives of TH Group.

Organizing the festival, associated with activities such as the Western Spring Festival Night and the Sunflower Festival Beauty Contest, is an opportunity to connect, introduce, and promote the image and traditional cultural values ​​of ethnic groups in the province to domestic and foreign friends, contributing to the preservation of the cultural identity of the Vietnamese people in general and Nghe An province in particular.

Every day, thousands of tourists come to enjoy the sunflower field in Nghia Son commune, Nghia Dan district.

Accordingly, the Sunflower Festival and the Spring Festival will take place over 3 days (from December 25 to 27). The festival's activities include: On December 25, the Organizing Committee will open the photo exhibition space; open booths introducing tourism potential and selling local products; organize ethnic folk games; meet with units participating in the opening ceremony of the festival and the festival night; beat gongs and carve rows to create an atmosphere before the opening ceremony; open the Sunflower Festival and the Western Spring Festival with many cultural and artistic activities imbued with the identity of the ethnic groups in Western Nghe An.

On December 26, 15 finalists of the Sunflower Festival beauty contest took photos in the sunflower field; exhibited photos, introduced and sold cultural products. In the evening of the same day, the final round of the Sunflower Beauty contest took place, with many contents such as performing traditional costumes of ethnic groups, evening gowns, knowledge, behavior, and talent competitions.

On December 27, there will continue to be special cultural, artistic, and sports activities and the award ceremony of the 2016 Sunflower Beauty Contest.
