In his speech directing the Congress, Standing member of the Secretariat Tran Quoc Vuong affirmed: Continuing the national tradition and generations of fathers and brothers, Vietnamese youth today continue to make many important contributions to the cause of building and defending the Fatherland. Millions of young people are actively working and producing, creating a lot of wealth for society, enriching themselves and their families. They are young soldiers of the armed forces, overcoming all hardships, sacrificing day and night to guard the borders and islands, ensuring order and security for the country. They are young intellectuals, students, and pupils who are passionate about studying, doing scientific research, and accumulating knowledge to establish themselves and make a career. “We are proud of the young people who have won in the arenas of mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, vocational competitions, international and regional sports and arts competitions... bringing glory to the Fatherland. The victory of the Vietnamese sports delegation at the 30th SEA Games is the victory of Vietnamese youth. The achievements and feats of the youth of the whole country have contributed significantly to the important and historical achievements of our country after more than 30 years of renovation,” Comrade Tran Quoc Vuong emphasized.
He also assessed that, as a close companion of the youth, a place to gather and unite youth organizations and youth classes, in recent times, the Vietnam Youth Union has had many innovations and creativity in organizing activities, combining more harmoniously the political tasks of the organization with the legitimate needs and aspirations of the youth.

Comrade Tran Quoc Vuong spoke at the Congress. |
Recognizing the shortcomings, Standing member of the Secretariat Tran Quoc Vuong said that the methods of solidarity and gathering of young people have not kept up with the rapid movement and change of the youth situation and social life, especially the changes in the trend of labor migration, occupations, young people's needs, the development of information technology and social networks. Many activities and programs of the Association at the grassroots level still lack depth, are not sustainable, effective and have not had a wide impact on young people, especially special youth and disadvantaged youth. The Association's activities are not clear and not clearly distinguished from the activities of the Youth Union. These are urgent issues that require the Association to quickly and resolutely overcome in the coming term.
Suggesting some contents to note in the coming period, in addition to innovating activities, Standing member of the Secretariat Tran Quoc Vuong said that, based on the reality of each locality and unit, the Association's chapters at all levels need to choose practical actions, promote the pioneering role and volunteering spirit of the youth, together with the entire political system to solve the problems that reality raises, clarify, have real effectiveness, not formality, do every job, no matter how small. “Our nation has a tradition of loving learning. The whole society and every Vietnamese family always respect, care about, and invest a lot of effort in taking care of the education of young people. The Association needs to propagate, educate, encourage, help, and orient young people to have the right awareness and attitude towards learning. Study for real, take real exams, study to be a human being, to serve the Fatherland, to serve the people; study to understand the real issues that are happening, so that each young person has the knowledge to determine for himself the right path ahead, to create the desire to contribute and mature,” said the Standing Member of the Secretariat, at the same time believing that “by correctly recognizing the true value of learning and through life experiences, each young person will have enough knowledge and skills to establish himself, to start a career, to be more confident in life; to better understand the value of independence and freedom of the country today, about the ideal of national independence associated with socialism that the Party, Uncle Ho and our people have chosen”.
