Opening of the 3rd Hanoi International Film Festival Creative Camp

Director of the Department of Cinema Ngo Phuong Lan and 30 filmmakers welcomed international guests at the opening ceremony of the Creative Camp on the morning of November 23 in Hanoi.

On the morning of November 23, the first activity of the third Hanoi International Film Festival took place with the opening ceremony of the Creative Camp. This is the second year this activity has been held and continues to attract the attention of many young filmmakers in the country and the region.

Director of the Department of Cinema and Director of the Hanoi International Film Festival, Ms. Ngo Phuong Lan, highly appreciated the importance of the Creation Camp in finding new talents for the country's cinema and creating opportunities for them to bring their stories to the world.

Ms. Ha Thuc Van, documentary film producer and director of Cau Noi Do Company, which co-organized this activity, said: "Young filmmakers have the opportunity to learn and practice with prestigious international experts in the shortest time possible." In 2012, female director Nguyen Hoang Diep of the film "Flapping in the Middle of Nowhere" was an outstanding student of the Creative Camp.

Veteran Hollywood actress and producer Colleen Camp was also there to support the young filmmakers. She co-produced Francis Ford Coppola's Vietnam War epic "Apocalypse Now." She has also worked with stars like Scarlett Johansson and Jennifer Lawrence.

The three international filmmakers participating in this year's Creative Camp are (from left) Korean director of photography Cho Young Jik (DOP class), Irish director Joe Lawlor (directing class) and German director and screenwriter Uli Gaulke (screenwriting class).

Cho Young Jik is the director of photography for the 19+ Korean film that won the Golden Lion at the 2012 Venice Film Festival - Pieta (director Kim Ki Duk).

The young screenwriter of the TV series "Grandma Doesn't Eat Pizza" - Nguyen Thi My Trang - is a student of this year's Screenwriting Camp.
