(Baonghean.vn)- On September 23, the Patriotic Emulation Congress of Nghe An province officially opened with the participation of more than 500 delegates, including 222 advanced models. Comrade Nguyen Thi Doan, member of the Party Central Committee, Vice President, First Vice President of the Central Emulation and Reward Council attended and directed the congress.

The average GDP growth rate reached 7.89%, GDP per capita in 2015 was estimated at 29 million VND, nearly 2 times higher than in 2010. Budget revenue increased rapidly; many important large projects were attracted as a premise for the development of the province. The infrastructure system was focused on investment and construction, contributing to socio-economic development, the appearance of urban and rural areas was increasingly spacious and renewed. Social culture had many positive changes, the material and spiritual life of the people was improved. The Provincial Competitiveness Index (PCI) of Nghe An province made a significant leap, from 46th place in 2013 to 28th place in 2014. National defense and security were strengthened, socio-politics were stable, social order and safety were ensured, foreign affairs activities were expanded. Party building work achieved important results.

Speaking at the Congress, Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan highly appreciated the efforts of Nghe An province over the past five years. The highlight is that the authorities at all levels and leaders have increasingly paid more attention to the emulation and reward movement. Each sector and field has launched emulation movements suitable to the sector, with each goal and task, thereby bringing Nghe An many important breakthroughs in all fields.

With the hope that by 2020, Nghe An will become a fairly developed province in the Northern region, he requested the Party Committee, government and people of Nghe An province to well implement the following contents:

Continue to launch and effectively implement the Patriotic Emulation Movements launched by the Central, Ministries, branches and provinces; associated with effectively implementing the "Studying and following the moral example of Ho Chi Minh". It is necessary to draw lessons from the past five years, so that in the next five years, emulation will truly be a driving force for economic and social development. Movements need to have clear goals, specific instructions, and avoid formalities. Focus on praising those who directly work, small groups... so that the movement can spread. To do so, it is necessary to closely monitor all areas, only then will the emulation movement be respected, and there will be motivation to implement. Doing well in the emulation movement means doing well in managing work and people; through emulation, cadres can be properly evaluated.

It is necessary to launch breakthrough emulation movements, how to achieve rapid and sustainable economic growth. It is necessary to properly implement the spirit of Decree No. 65 of the Government on clearly regulating the improvement of the emulation and reward apparatus, especially the emulation and reward work at the grassroots level; to do a better job of replicating advanced examples and good models; it is necessary to create conditions for units to develop more models and emulation movements.

At the Congress, Comrade Nguyen Xuan Duong, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee launched the Patriotic Emulation Movement for the period 2016 - 2020 with the theme "Solidarity, creativity, innovation, emulation to build Nghe An to develop rapidly and sustainably, basically becoming an industrial province by 2020". In which, the main goal is to focus on building Nghe An to become a fairly well-off province in the Northern region, developing towards industrialization and modernization, becoming a center of finance, trade, tourism, education and training, science and technology, health care, culture, sports, and high-tech industry of the North Central region.

The Congress also elected 16 delegates to attend the National Patriotic Emulation Congress for the 2010-2015 period.
