Opening of Cambodian Cultural Week in Vietnam

On the evening of November 9, the Cambodian Cultural Week in Vietnam officially opened in Ho Chi Minh City. This is a significant event organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam in coordination with the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts of the Kingdom of Cambodia.

The Cambodian Cultural Week in Vietnam 2015 is a cultural exchange activity to implement the cultural and artistic cooperation plan between Vietnam and Cambodia from 2012 to 2017.

The highlight of this event was the 62nd anniversary of the National Day of the Kingdom of Cambodia solemnly held in Ho Chi Minh City this morning. This was followed by a special performance to celebrate the opening of the Cambodian Cultural Week at Ben Thanh Theater. Here, artists performed cultural performances of both countries, demonstrating the spirit of solidarity and the strong friendship between the two neighboring countries of Vietnam and Cambodia.

The festival also includes a Royal Exhibition of Colorful Cultural Arts at the Ho Chi Minh City Museum. In addition, the delegations of the two countries also have the opportunity to exchange cultures through visits to famous landmarks in Ho Chi Minh City and Soc Trang province.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the Cambodian Cultural Week in Vietnam, Mr. Huynh Vinh Ai, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, affirmed that this is an opportunity for Vietnamese people and international friends to learn more about the country, people and culture of Cambodia. At the same time, this is also an opportunity for people of the two countries to get closer together.

Thon Bunheng, a Cambodian student studying at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, said: “Today is the opening day of the Cambodian cultural week in Vietnam. As a Cambodian, I feel very happy to attend this program. This program is very important because it helps young people learn about the cultures of Vietnam and Cambodia. The two sides will forever have long-term cooperation, friendship and peace.”./.
