On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan (1973 - 2013) and the Vietnam - Japan Friendship Year 2013, on the afternoon of June 10 at the Provincial Library, the Nghe An Union of Friendship Organizations and the Vietnam - Japan Friendship Association held the opening ceremony of the Japan Cultural Week in Nghe An.

(Baonghean.vn) -On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan (1973 - 2013) and the Vietnam - Japan Friendship Year 2013, on the afternoon of June 10 at the Provincial Library, the Nghe An Union of Friendship Organizations and the Vietnam - Japan Friendship Association held the opening ceremony of the Japan Cultural Week in Nghe An.

Attending the event were Mr. Toichi Nizuma - Secretary General of the Japan - Vietnam Friendship Association; Mr. Amma Yukiho - President of the Abasa Vietnam Association, the delegation of the Parliament and the Kasumigaura City Government of Ibaraki Prefecture and representatives of a number of enterprises in Japan. On the Nghe An side, there were Mr. Nguyen Xuan Son - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Mass Mobilization Committee, Chairman of the Nghe An Union of Friendship Organizations; representatives of the Provincial Fatherland Front, departments and branches, leaders of Vinh City and a large number of students from universities, colleges and high schools located in the city.

At the ceremony, on behalf of the Japanese delegation, Mr. Amma Yukiho - President of the Asaba Association of Vietnam spoke, emphasizing the close friendship between Vietnam and Japan over the years. He also introduced the "Asaba Sakirato Memorial Stele" erected by Phan Boi Chau in Fukuroi City, Shizuoka Prefecture and affirmed that this is a typical testament to the Vietnam - Japan friendship, especially with Nghe An Province, Phan Boi Chau's hometown.

This is the first activity to kick off the Vietnam-Japan Friendship Year in Nghe An. Taking place for 3 days from June 10 to 12, the Japan Cultural Week in Nghe An will be held in Vinh City and Nam Dan District with many diverse activities such as a photo exhibition about the land and people of Japan, a display of Vietnamese and Japanese books and newspapers, talks on the topic of the Vietnam-Japan relationship past and present, and Vietnam-Japan friendship exchanges. In addition, the Japan Asaba Association and the Japan Cultural Center will also organize film screenings at Vinh University, Phan Boi Chau High School and Nam Dan Town, notably the documentary "Japan through the eyes of Phan Boi Chau".
