(Baonghean) - Last weekend, important events took place in Nghe An: the official opening of Vissai Wharf to serve 70,000-ton ships and the groundbreaking of Hai Chau II Confectionery Factory. These are truly positive signs in the province's investment attraction sector in 2017 and the following years.

Projects with great influence

The opening ceremony of Vissai Wharf No. 1 and No. 2 in Nghi Thiet sea area, Nghi Loc district is considered the opening event for the bustling activities at the international port area in the North Central region. Because, right at this ceremony, for the first time, Nghe An sea area welcomed the largest foreign ship ever, the 63,000-ton VANCOUVER.

The early operation of Vissai Wharf No. 1 and No. 2 demonstrates the investment capacity of The Vissai Cement Group as well as the common determination of Nghe An province's leaders.

Vissai wharf No. 1 is 2,000 m long, extending out to the sea, serving 70,000-ton ships to load and unload goods. In phase I, it mainly serves the transportation of clinker and cement of Song Lam Cement Joint Stock Company. In phase 2, this port cluster is building 2 more general ports, becoming a multi-purpose international seaport. The advantage of the sea here is that it has a natural depth of 9 m, after dredging the channel, it can serve ships over 100,000 tons to dock..

The project is linked to Song Lam Cement Factory (in Do Luong district); Nghi Thiet Cement Grinding Station (Nghi Loc district), creating a new highlight for the Vissai brand, while also having a great impact on the socio-economic development of Nghe An and the provinces in the North Central region.

This is also one of the projects contributing to Nghe An in promoting the implementation of the goals of Resolution 26 of the Politburo on building Nghe An by 2020.

Recognizing the efforts of Hoang Phat Vissai Group, in his speech at the port opening ceremony, Comrade Nguyen Dac Vinh - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Nghe An province, emphasized: "The completion and putting into operation of the deep-water seaport will create a chain of synchronous, diverse and dynamic transport infrastructure, creating a strong driving force to promote socio-economic development, maintaining national defense and security for the province and the North Central region.

In the near future, Nghe An will be located on the North-South Expressway and the Hanoi-Vientiane Expressway. Cua Lo will be the gateway to the Pacific Ocean of Laos, Northern Thailand and many other lands. The development potential of Vissai Nghe An International Seaport is huge...”.

The joy was multiplied, right after the opening ceremony of Vissai International Wharf, welcoming large-tonnage foreign ships to dock, was the groundbreaking ceremony of Hai Chau II Confectionery Factory in Dong Hoi Industrial Park (Hoang Mai Town). This project has a total investment of 360 billion VND with 10 confectionery and beverage production lines with a production capacity of 75,000 tons/year.

Chairman of the Board of Directors, General Director of Sugarcane Corporation 1 and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Hai Chau Confectionery Joint Stock Company Nguyen Van Hoi shared: “Nghe An is the center of economic, commercial and tourism exchange in the North Central region, the South-North axis and the East-West Economic Corridor, and the gateway to the East Sea to APEC economies; fully converging road, rail, air, international and domestic seaport routes, with many advantages and potential for development, production and business activities. The province also puts businesses in the center, creating a favorable environment for business development”.

Perhaps, that is one of the major motivations for Hai Chau Confectionery Joint Stock Company to choose Nghe An as an investment destination in the company's restructuring strategy for the period 2015 - 2020, with a vision to 2030.

Assessing the impact of the Hai Chau II Confectionery Factory project, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Xuan Duong said that the factory will contribute to promoting the development of services and trade in the area and neighboring areas; increase budget revenue, and contribute to shifting the economic structure of the province towards industry and services in Nghe An province and neighboring provinces.

Actively accompany investors

In recent times, despite some objective and subjective difficulties, Nghe An province has still ensured the priority of sustainable development, promptly and effectively handled arising issues, promptly created stability and consensus in society, and encouraged and motivated cadres, party members and people to compete to complete socio-economic goals and targets.

During that process, provincial leaders, departments, branches, localities and people in areas with investment projects actively accompanied businesses, accelerated construction progress, and soon put key projects into operation.

A clear proof is that after signing the investment agreement at the Spring Dinh Dau 2017 Investor Meeting, the provincial departments and agencies assigned staff to work closely with investors to quickly resolve administrative procedures and soon launch new projects.

As for the Hai Chau II Confectionery Factory project, after completing the procedures and receiving the investment approval decision on September 21, 2017, exactly 1 month later, the investor started construction of the factory in Nghe An and confirmed to put 10 production lines into operation from January to December 2018.

In particular, the factory also contributes to the consumption of agricultural products such as sugar, salt, rice, pepper, eggs, etc.; contributes to the State budget through value added tax and corporate income tax. The presence of the Hai Chau confectionery brand has contributed to making the economic area of Northern Nghe An in the overall Nam Thanh - Bac Nghe region increasingly vibrant with the appearance of many projects and big brands such as Ton Hoa Sen, etc., and soon to come are Korean investors.

That creates a great motivation for the young town of Hoang Mai in particular and Nghe An province in general to develop. Chairman of the People's Committee of Hoang Mai town Nguyen Huu Tuy said that Hoang Mai town will focus on completing the site clearance of 5 hectares so that the project can be implemented on schedule.

In addition to regular and planned meetings with businesses and investors, provincial leaders have increased field work to grasp the situation, urge and remove difficulties for each project.

At the opening ceremony of Vissai wharf, Mr. Hoang Manh Truong - Chairman of The Vissai Cement Group also highly appreciated the support of provincial leaders and officials and people of localities where the unit's projects are implemented.

That shows the receptiveness of cadres, party members and people of the province in continuing to closely coordinate with investors to resolve and remove obstacles to soon put projects into operation, create more jobs, contribute more to the state budget, and promote socio-economic development.

Since the beginning of 2017, Nghe An has granted new licenses (approved investment policies, granted investment registration certificates) to 96 projects with a total registered investment capital of VND 10,647.84 billion. In addition, 11 projects have been adjusted with an increase in adjusted capital of VND 287.55 billion. Of which, domestic investment: granted new licenses to 92 projects with a total capital of VND 7,469.52 billion; adjusted 10 projects with a total investment capital decrease of VND 282.45 billion. FDI investment: granted new licenses to 4 projects with a total capital of VND 3,178.32 billion; adjusted 1 project with a total investment capital increase of VND 570 billion.
