Opening of the Press Center of the 13th National Party Congress

Attending the opening ceremony were comrades: Tran Quoc Vuong - Politburo member, Standing member of the Secretariat; Vo Van Thuong - Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda Department; Nguyen Xuan Thang - Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council.

Also attending the ceremony were members of the Party Central Committee, leaders of central departments, ministries, branches and organizations; provincial and municipal Party Committees, Party Committees directly under the Central Committee; press agencies and hundreds of reporters working directly at the Congress.

On March 30, 2020, the Organizing Subcommittee serving the 13th National Party Congress issued a Decision on the establishment, organization and operation of the 13th National Party Congress Press Center.

The Center has the function of guiding, supporting and facilitating the provision of information and documents for domestic and international reporters to monitor and report on the 13th Congress accurately, promptly and effectively. Organize press conferences at the Press Center.

At the Opening Ceremony, comrade Le Manh Hung - Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department, Director of the XIII Congress Press Center said: The Press Center coordinated with the National Convention Center and related units to arrange and ensure the best conditions; installed equipment and transmission lines to serve the requirements of radio, television, news transmission, news writing and articles for nearly 500 reporters and technicians of 191 domestic press agencies; more than 60 reporters of 26 foreign news agencies and newspapers working directly and nearly 100 reporters of 84 foreign news agencies and newspapers working online, following and reporting on the Congress.

The Press Center Standing Committee coordinated with the Health Subcommittee to conduct Covid-19 tests for reporters, editors, technicians of domestic and international press agencies as well as staff participating in serving the Congress of the Press Center and Book Exhibition.

The Press Center also coordinated to organize the photo exhibition "Steadfast steps under the glorious Party flag" and completed the display of books, newspapers, and printed and copied books and films as gifts for delegates attending the 13th Congress.

Next, comrades Tran Quoc Vuong, Vo Van Thuong, Nguyen Xuan Thang and leaders of central departments, ministries, branches and organizations cut the ribbon to inaugurate the Press Center of the 13th National Party Congress.

On the same afternoon, the Ministry of Information and Communications coordinated with the Central Propaganda Department to issue the stamp set "Welcoming the 13th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam". The stamp set includes 1 design with overflowing border in the 43x32 (mm) format, designed by artist To Minh Trang (Vietnam Post Corporation).

The stamp depicts a portrait of President Ho Chi Minh drawn in the language of realistic painting, with the idea that Uncle Ho always emphasized the work of Party building and rectification, which is the key issue that is always emphasized at Party congresses.

The image of the flag with the hammer, sickle and yellow star represents the idea that the Party is always the vanguard organization leading the nation to all victories in the revolutionary cause. The Roman numeral XIII is drawn in a solid block, representing the idea that the 13th Congress will be a congress of lasting solidarity as a unified block.

The lotus flower symbol is designed according to an ancient motif symbolizing culture and national unity, following the Party to build an independent, sovereign and territorially intact Vietnam.

The stamp set was issued under a special ceremony on January 22, 2021 in Hanoi, and will be available on the Postal network from January 22, 2021 to December 31, 2022.

This afternoon (January 22), a press conference announcing the content of the 13th Party Congress took place in Hanoi. Head of the Central Propaganda Department Vo Van Thuong chaired this important press conference.

Accordingly, 1,587 delegates attended the 13th Party Congress, including 1,381 official delegates elected by the congresses of Party committees directly under the Central Committee for the 2020-2025 term, 15 overseas delegates appointed by the Politburo, and 191 ex-officio delegates who are official members and alternate members of the 12th term.

The 13th Congress will discuss and approve draft documents, of which the central document is the political report; a report summarizing the Party building work and the implementation of the Party's charter during the 12th Congress term; a report reviewing the leadership and direction of the 12th Party Central Committee; and electing the 13th Party Central Committee (term 2021-2026) - the highest leadership body of the Party between two Congresses.
