Opening of press center to serve September 2nd celebration, issuing special stamp set

The Central Steering Committee for the celebration of major holidays and important historical events of the country in 3 years (2023-2025) this afternoon opened the press center for the 80th anniversary of National Day, September 2.

Speaking at the ceremony, Permanent Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Le Hai Binh shared his emotions when opening the press center at the National Assembly building, right at Ba Dinh Square where President Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence giving birth to the Democratic Republic of Vietnam.

The Deputy Minister said that 1,390 reporters, editors, and technicians from 171 domestic press agencies and 150 reporters from 50 foreign press agencies registered to cover the anniversary event. This is the largest number of reporters, editors, and technicians registered to cover the event to date.

The Press Center is the place to organize, direct and guide press activities related to the celebration. It is also the place to provide information about the celebration activities; serve the work of reporters; and handle press requests from reporters.

Besides, press information work will contribute significantly to the overall success of the National Day Celebration on September 2nd.

Deputy Minister Le Hai Binh affirmed that the center will create all favorable conditions for reporters to report on the anniversary and proactively and actively provide information from the Organizing Committee.

He asked reporters and editors to report quickly and accurately and to comply with regulations on security, location, work diagrams, and route maps. The Organizing Committee will send them to all press agencies, ensuring absolute safety for the celebration activities.

Next, Head of the Central Propaganda and Education Commission Nguyen Trong Nghia; Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Khac Dinh and leaders of ministries and branches inaugurated the press center.

Special stamp release

Also at the opening ceremony, the Central Propaganda and Education Commission, the Ministry of Science and Technology, and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism issued a set of postage stamps commemorating the 80th anniversary of National Day. The stamp set includes 1 stamp and 1 block.

The stamp depicts President Ho Chi Minh in a modern graphic art style, both solemn and familiar. His face appears gentle, his eyes shining with faith and aspiration for independence and freedom for the nation. Simple but delicate lines, combined with the dominant red and yellow colors of the National Flag, create a strong highlight, honoring the great leader, the immortal symbol of patriotism, self-reliance and aspiration for peace of the Vietnamese people.

The block model shows the Vietnamese National Emblem and the map of the Fatherland with the sacred and complete sovereignty of the sea and islands of the national territory. The block background uses the image of a bronze drum, a symbol of a thousand years of civilization, reminding us of the historical roots and depth of national culture.

Stamps are 32x43mm in size; blocks are 80x100mm in size with prices of 4,000 VND and 19,000 VND. The stamp set was designed by artist Nguyen Du (Vietnam Post Corporation); supplied nationwide at provincial, city, central post offices, and transaction post offices from August 26, 2025 to June 30, 2027.

Director of the Postal Department of the Ministry of Science and Technology La Hoang Trung said that the stamp set not only represents the important historical milestone, the day President Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence, giving birth to the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, but also affirms the sovereignty, freedom, independence, solidarity, indomitable will and pride of the Vietnamese people over the past 80 years.

The stamp set also conveys a message of infinite gratitude for the great contributions of the great President Ho Chi Minh, the genius leader of the Party and our nation, along with revolutionary predecessors and millions of heroes and martyrs who bravely fought and sacrificed for the independence, sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity of the Fatherland.

At the same time, the stamp set is also an affirmation that after 80 years of construction and development, the lives of Vietnamese people are increasingly prosperous and happy, the country is constantly innovating and integrating deeply, continuing to firmly enter a new era - an era of sustainable development and prosperity.
