Although no leader of Vietnam Television (VTV) or the Sports Information Production Center has officially confirmed it, according to sources ofSports & CultureVTV has completed a long working process with partner MP&Silva to have clean waves to serve audiences during the 2014 World Cup. VTV has the right to broadcast live the opening and closing ceremonies as well as all 64 matches of the biggest football festival on the planet taking place in Brazil from June 12 to July 13.

It is known that the total amount of money that VTV has to spend to buy the broadcasting rights of the 2014 World Cup is about 7 million USD, equivalent to 150 billion VND. This amount includes the cost of satellite transmission, which accounts for approximately 2 million USD (more than 44 billion VND). Previously, partner MP&Silva had offered a starting price of 10 million USD (about 220 billion VND) for the 2014 World Cup broadcasting copyright package, but did not include the transmission fee.

It is expected that in the next few days, VTV will hold a press conference to officially announce information about this contract. It is not yet clear whether VTV will broadcast exclusively or share with other stations to exploit the 2014 World Cup television copyright package.

In addition to purchasing the broadcasting rights for the 2014 World Cup, VTV has also prepared its staff to broadcast and produce accompanying programs. In addition, last week, a number of VTV staff went to the Brazilian Embassy in Hanoi to complete procedures to go to Brazil to work in the near future.
