Urgently direct to overcome damage caused by rain and storm No. 2
(Baonghean) -This afternoon, June 27, under the chairmanship of comrade Phan Dinh Trac - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Standing Committee of Nghe An Provincial Party Committee, a quick report was heard on the damage caused by storm No. 2 and urgent directions were given for remedial solutions.
A quick summary report on the damage caused by storm No. 2 by the Provincial Steering Committee for Flood and Storm Prevention and Control, storm No. 2 and its circulation caused heavy rain; in some places very heavy rain and a major flood occurred in the upper reaches of Ca River and Hieu River. In the mountainous districts of Ky Son, Tuong Duong, Que Phong, Quy Chau... flash floods, deep inundation occurred, killing people, collapsing houses, schools, damaging many public works, infrastructure, causing heavy damage in agricultural production... Specifically, the floods killed 01 person, 3 people went missing, 2 people were injured, 37 houses collapsed, 2,212 houses were flooded, 129 houses were swept away, 8,951 hectares of rice were flooded... In coastal districts, storm No. 2 sank 05 ships and 01 raft and left 1 person missing. Total damage is estimated at 1,086 billion VND.
To overcome the damage caused by storms and floods in mountainous areas and limit damage to the downstream of the Ca River, the Provincial People's Committee and the Provincial Steering Committee for Flood and Storm Prevention and Control have issued a telegram directing departments, branches, sectors and districts to implement a number of solutions such as: visiting, encouraging and helping people affected by floods, rebuilding damaged houses; cleaning the environment, dredging and promptly repairing traffic routes, checking the safety of irrigation works, and being on duty 24/7 to collect and process information about rain and floods of storm No. 2's circulation to promptly have response solutions.
Concluding the direction of urgent solutions to overcome natural disasters and floods, the Provincial Party Secretary directed urgent tasks that need to be done immediately: Establish two working groups along National Highway 7 and National Highway 48 to inspect and direct solutions. Provide timely support to affected families, search for bodies of missing victims due to storms and floods; carry out general cleaning and disinfection, clean up the environment; organize hunger relief for people; direct harvesting to restore livestock production, schools, clinics, offices; restore damaged irrigation works. Regarding human resources, mobilize police, army, border guards, Red Cross, and youth forces to support people in overcoming the situation. Speed up the progress and protect weak works, direct tree pruning, and clear sewers. At the same time, specifically summarize and fully inform about the damage caused by storms and floods. Postpone unnecessary meetings to focus on handling and overcoming damage caused by storms and floods.
