On June 7, 2011, the Provincial Anti-Corruption Steering Committee sent a dispatch to the Provincial Police Department leaders regarding the handling of the information reported in the newspaper. The content is as follows:
The Provincial Steering Committee on Anti-Corruption received information through reports from several newspapers such as: Nghe An Newspaper, Nghe An Police Newspaper, Ho Chi Minh City Law Newspaper, Dan Tri Newspaper, Tien Phong Online Newspaper... reported the following summary: On June 5, 2011, in Hamlet 3, Hung Thinh Commune, Hung Nguyen District, a group of about 10 people used swords, sticks and guns to assault and injure two citizens, Mr. Tran Van Giap and Mr. Tran Van Phong (residing in Chau Hung Block, Vinh Tan Ward, Vinh City). Among them, Mr. Tran Van Giap was commended by the province for his achievements in fighting corruption.... (specific photocopies of the newspaper article are attached).
On December 9, 2010, the Provincial Steering Committee on Anti-Corruption issued Official Dispatch No. 130/ BCĐ-XLĐT to the Provincial Police to direct the settlement of the incident on July 3, 2010, in which Mr. Tran Van Giap was seriously injured by a number of masked people with a knife and had to be hospitalized for treatment. However, there has been no report on the settlement results. Now another incident has occurred causing injuries to Mr. Giap and his brother.
The Nghe An Provincial Steering Committee on Anti-Corruption requests the Director of Nghe An Provincial Police - Member of the Provincial Steering Committee on Anti-Corruption to promptly direct the investigation to clarify the case to stabilize social order and security in the area and report the results to the Steering Committee (through the Steering Committee Office) before June 30, 2011.
