Urgently overcome serious landslides on National Highway 16 through Nhon Mai commune, Tuong Duong
Due to the heavy rain on May 29, Nhon Mai commune, Tuong Duong district experienced flash floods, causing serious landslides at many negative and positive slopes on National Highway 16. Currently, the authorities are actively implementing remedial measures to ensure traffic safety.
Specifically, heavy rain caused landslides on National Highway 16 from Km300 to Km309 at 10 locations, with the volume of rock and soil reaching tens of thousands of cubic meters. Particularly serious were two locations at Km306+550 and Km306+850, in Xoi Voi village, Nhon Mai commune. Here, the negative slope was eroded, cutting off the road with a length of about 100m and 70m, completely cutting off the road, making it impossible for vehicles to travel.

Mr. Hoang Quoc Truong - Director of the Road Maintenance Management Board (Nghe An Department of Construction) said: "Immediately after receiving the information, on the morning of May 30, Nghe An Department of Construction directed the Maintenance Management Board and traffic management units on the route to mobilize machinery and equipment to the scene for emergency handling. Currently, 7 excavators have been mobilized to work from both ends of the route. Up to now, 4 landslide points have been handled."

The recovery work is facing many difficulties due to the large volume of landslides and difficult terrain. However, the forces are working 24/7 in shifts to speed up the progress.

It is expected that by June 1, the focus will be on handling two serious landslides at Km306+550 and Km306+850. The goal is to soon clear one lane so that non-motorized vehicles can pass through the area.

Mr. Hoang Quoc Truong added: Nghe An Department of Construction will report to the Provincial People's Committee to issue an emergency order to repair these severely damaged landslide sites to soon ensure safe and stable traffic for people in the area.
