Inauguration of the memorial stele marking the death of Vice-Chancellor Nguyen Sinh Sac
On the afternoon of February 15, in Hoa An commune, Cao Lanh city, Dong Thap province, a solemn ceremony was held to inaugurate the memorial stele marking the late Vice-Chancellor Nguyen Sinh Sac - the father of President Ho Chi Minh, to commemorate his merits and to show gratitude to those who had taken care of him during his years of living and working in Hoa An commune. President Truong Tan Sang attended the inauguration ceremony.
After arriving in Saigon, in 1917, Mr. Nguyen Sinh Sac went to Cao Lanh, worked in Hoa An village, met Confucian scholars and patriots, and spread patriotism among the people. Here, he taught, took pulses, and prescribed medicine to treat people. He was wholeheartedly protected and sheltered by the villagers of Hoa An during his revolutionary activities.

Before attending the inauguration ceremony of the Memorial Stele, President Truong Tan Sang visited and burned incense at the Nguyen Sinh Sac Relic Site; visited and presented gifts to a number of typical families in the new rural construction movement of Hoa An commune.
The President was pleased and praised the people of Hoa An commune for their efforts and cooperation with the local government in implementing the new rural construction program. Currently, Hoa An commune has achieved 14/19 criteria for new rural construction, striving to complete the criteria by the end of 2014.
