Inauguration of Dai Hung Bao Dien of Can Linh Ancestral Temple

(Baonghean.vn) - The inauguration ceremony of Dai Hung Bao Dien To Dinh Can Linh was held on the occasion of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha of Nghe An province organizing the Nghe An Lotus Festival 2019 and welcoming the United Nations Day of Vesak 2019.

Attending the ceremony were Mr. Vu Chien Thang - Head of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs; Most Venerable Thich Thanh Nhieu - Permanent Vice President of the Executive Council of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha; Venerables, senior monks, nuns and nearly 6,000 Buddhists.

Also attending from Nghe An province were comrade Nguyen Van Huy - Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Nghe An province; representatives of the Provincial Party Committee's Mass Mobilization Committee, Provincial Police, Provincial People's Committee Office, and Department of Home Affairs.

The 2019 Nghe An Lotus Festival, the inauguration of the Great Heroic Palace of Can Linh Pagoda and the celebration of the 2019 United Nations Vesak Festival took place over two days, May 4-5, including the following activities: official ceremony; incense offering at Uncle Ho's hometown, martyrs' monument; praying for the souls of heroic martyrs; praying for national peace and prosperity...

During the official ceremony, Venerable Thich Thanh Nhieu - Vice PresidentThe Standing Chairman of the Executive Council of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha read the Buddha's Birthday Message of Buddhist calendar 2563 of Most Venerable Thich Pho Tue - Supreme Patriarch of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha; Most Venerable Thich Tho Lac - Deputy Head of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha of Nghe An province read the welcoming speech for the United Nations Day of Vesak 2019, the Nghe An Lotus Festival 2019, commemorating the 129th birthday of President Ho Chi Minh; and approved the report on the construction of Can Linh Pagoda, phase I.

Vesak is a rare event associated with the life of Buddha (the day of Buddha's birth, enlightenment and nirvana all took place on the full moon day of the fourth lunar month).

Vesak Festival, also known as the Three Harmonies Festival, is held to honor and promote the values ​​of the heritage that Buddha left behind, which are wisdom, compassion, the philosophy of selflessness, the spirit of non-violence, peace and sustainable development.

In 2019, the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha is honored to be the host country of the 16th United Nations Vesak Celebration, which will take place from May 12-14 in Ha Nam province.

The event will focus on discussing many issues, including the Buddhist approach to global leadership and shared responsibility for sustainable societies; family harmony, health care; moral education; the 4.0 industrial revolution and Buddhism.

In the series of activities towards the United Nations Vesak 2019, the Nghe Sen Huong Festival 2019 is an important activity. The festival aims to honor the good and humane values ​​of people and President Ho Chi Minh is the most representative. The festival carries out activities to pay tribute to President Ho Chi Minh and the heroic martyrs who sacrificed for the independence and freedom of the country.

Can Linh Pagoda is also known as Co Linh Van Pagoda, Can Linh Ancestral Temple, and Su Nu Pagoda. Can Linh Pagoda is located on National Highway 1A, in Block 10, Cua Nam Ward, Vinh City, and was built in the 9th century AD.

The history of the pagoda is closely linked to the history of Buddhism in Nghe An. The pagoda still preserves many valuable artifacts. On January 21, 1992, the Ministry of Culture and Information decided to recognize Can Linh Pagoda as a National Historical - Cultural Relic... Over time, the pagoda deteriorated and was restored and rebuilt in early 2017.

At the main ceremony, Mr. Vu Chien Thang presented 3 Buddha relics to Can Linh Pagoda. The organizing committee of the ceremony performed the Buddha bathing ceremony; the ribbon-cutting procession and the enshrinement of Buddha relics; released birds; presented charity gifts and merit certificates.
