Inauguration of Passenger Terminal - Vinh Airport

(Baonghean.vn) - COn the afternoon of January 31, Vietnam Airlines Corporation (ACV) coordinated with the People's Committee of Nghe An province to organize the inauguration ceremony of the Passenger Terminal - Vinh Airport and announced the planning of Vinh Airport to become an international airport.

Attending the ceremony were Politburo members: Nguyen Sinh Hung - Chairman of the National Assembly, Nguyen Xuan Phuc - Deputy Prime Minister; Party Central Committee members: Nguyen The Trung - Deputy Head of the Central Committee for Mass Mobilization; Phan Dinh Trac - Deputy Head of the Central Committee for Internal Affairs; Nguyen Hanh Phuc - Head of the National Assembly Office; Vuong Dinh Hue - Head of the Central Economic Committee, Dinh La Thang - Minister of Transport; Nguyen Xuan Thang - President of the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences; Nguyen Dac Vinh - Alternate Party Central Committee member - First Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union; representatives of central ministries, departments and branches.

The project to build a passenger terminal - Vinh Airport was started on April 26, 2013. The passenger terminal is invested with advanced aviation equipment and technology lines according to international standards. The terminal has modern, high-tech architecture, promoting local cultural characteristics with the idea of ​​simulating the image of a lotus flower and lotus leaves. This is a symbolic architectural work of Nghe An province - the homeland of President Ho Chi Minh. The passenger terminal is designed according to the model of 02 separate departure and arrival levels, with a total floor area of ​​11,706m2, 4 aircraft doors, serving 1,000 passengers during peak hours, with a capacity of 3 million passengers/year.

The project to expand the aircraft parking lot to ensure 7 aircraft parking positions (3 more than before), ensuring the reception of A320/321 aircraft and equivalent. The project to build a multi-level road and car parking lot was started on March 8, 2014.

The inauguration and simultaneous operation of three major construction projects at Vinh Airport is of great significance to Nghe An province, both creating modern works, a highlight of the urban landscape for Vinh City, and bringing benefits, convenience and ease of travel for the people of the province and the North Central region.

At the ceremony, Vietnam Airlines Corporation announced the plan to turn Vinh Airport into an international airport. This event not only contributes to attracting investment from domestic and foreign enterprises to explore investment opportunities in Nghe An, but also connects and strongly develops the tourism industry; at the same time, it is an important highlight for Nghe An to take off, contributing to promoting the socio-economic development of the province and the entire North Central region.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and Nguyen Xuan Duong, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, affirmed that Vinh Airport has a particularly important position, role, and driving force for the socio-economic development of Nghe An and the region. Nghe An province is committed to effectively using the project. The Deputy Prime Minister highly appreciated the drastic direction of the Ministry of Transport, the participation of Nghe An province in site clearance work, consulting units, and construction contractors. He requested relevant agencies, departments, and branches to strengthen propaganda work to raise people's awareness and responsibility in building the image of a civilized and modern Vinh airport. Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc requested units to operate techniques to ensure safety, security, efficiency, and quality, bringing Vinh Airport to meet the requirements of an international airport. Neighboring provinces need to strengthen coordination in developing transport infrastructure connections, contributing to the economic development of the North Central region.
