Inauguration of Phu Quy island district wind power plant
On January 24, in Phu Quy island district (Binh Thuan), Vietnam Oil and Gas Group coordinated with the People's Committee of Binh Thuan province to inaugurate the Phu Quy wind power plant.

This is the first wind power project in Vietnam using a mixed wind-diesel operation model.
Phu Quy Island Wind Power Plant has a total investment capital of 335 billion VND, invested by Vietnam Oil and Gas Power Corporation, and started construction on November 26, 2010.
The factory has a capacity of 6MW, including three turbine towers, the height of each turbine tower is 60m, including three fan blades, each blade is 37m long to catch the wind, the diameter when the fan rotates is 75m.
The factory is built on the territory of Long Hai and Ngu Phung communes (Phu Quy district) with an average annual electricity production of about 25.4 million kWh.
After construction, Phu Quy Island Wind Power Plant had a test run on August 24, 2012.
Since this is the first model to operate a hybrid system of wind and diesel, the operation of this hybrid system is very complex, requiring operators to be very focused, careful and strictly follow the approved coordination procedure.
Previously, the electricity source on Phu Quy Island was mainly supplied from the Diesel Power Plant of Binh Thuan Electricity Company with a total capacity of 3,000kWh, generating electricity only 16 hours/day (from 7:30 to 23:30), the annual electricity volume is estimated at about 8.2 million kWh.
The investment and operation of this power plant will bring many practical meanings to the outpost island district of Binh Thuan, contributing to solving the shortage of electricity for daily life and production for 27,000 people on the island, ensuring the service of the local economic development strategy, contributing to maintaining security and protecting the integrity of the national territory./.
