Inauguration of National Highway 46B, groundbreaking of National Highway 46 flyover project with North-South railway and National Highway 1A

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of May 19, the Department of Transport held the inauguration ceremony of National Highway 46B and the groundbreaking ceremony of the National Highway 46 flyover project with the North-South railway and National Highway 1A. Attending the ceremony were comrade Le Dinh Tho - Deputy Minister of Transport. On the side of our province, there were comrades in the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairmen of the Provincial People's Committee and leaders of provincial departments, branches and sectors.

QL46B is located on the main road of Vinh City, which is important in reducing traffic volume through the city. The National Highway 46B project, invested by the Department of Transport, has a total investment of 343 billion VND with a length of 8.4km. The starting point is at Km 1+830 Dang Thai Mai Street, Vinh City, passing through the QL1A bypass (Vinh City bypass) at Km 11+565.8, through Eo Gio and ending at Km 24+800QL46, Nam Giang Commune, Nam Dan District. Construction started in December 2009, but during the implementation of the project, the progress had to be temporarily suspended. After 2 months of re-implementation, the project was completed and put into use.

Along with the completion of the QL46B project, the Nghe An Department of Transport continues to implement the QL46 overpass project with the North-South railway and QL1A. The project is of special importance in reducing traffic congestion and accidents at the intersection between QL46 connecting Dang Thai Mai Street with QL1A and the North-South railway, enhancing train safety on the North-South railway line, contributing to the completion of the QL1A upgrade and expansion project. According to the design, the QL46 railway overpass with prestressed reinforced concrete structure has a total bridge length of L = 578m, a bridge width of 12m, with a collector road and approach roads at both ends of the bridge; the construction value of this project is about 174 billion VND, taken from the surplus capital of the QL1A upgrade and expansion project.

After completing the entire project, the QL46 overpass intersection with the North-South railway and QL1 and QL46B will be the route to create convenient connections between Cua Lo port, Thanh Thuy border gate with QL1, reducing traffic in the center of Vinh city, contributing to the socio-economic development of the western region of Nghe An and surrounding areas. At the same time, it will contribute to promoting connections in the tourism chain between Cua Lo beach, Vinh city, Hung Nguyen to Kim Lien Nam Dan relic site, Truong Bon relic site with the western districts of the province.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Transport Le Dinh Tho and Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Huynh Thanh Dien acknowledged and highly appreciated the efforts of the investor and construction units, all levels, sectors and the support of the people in the region to complete the project on schedule. At the same time, they emphasized: The completion and putting into use of National Highway 46B and the groundbreaking of the National Highway 46 - North - South Railway and National Highway 1 overpass project is a significant event, meeting the expectations of the provincial government and people; continuing to synchronously complete the infrastructure system, creating momentum to promote socio-economic development. This is also a practical activity to celebrate the 124th birthday of President Ho Chi Minh. Leaders of the Ministry of Transport and provincial leaders requested the project investor to urgently complete the procedures and speed up the construction work, bringing the project to the finish line on schedule, ensuring quality and safety. On the local government side, during the construction process, it is necessary to actively support the contractor in site clearance, ensuring security and traffic safety.
