Speaking at the ceremony, Buenos Aires City Minister of Environment and Public Spaces, Diego Santilli, expressed the world's admiration for the Vietnamese people and President Ho Chi Minh in their struggle for national liberation, and emphasized that the monument is a symbol of friendship between the people of the two countries.

Implementing his will, the Vietnamese people have completed the people's national democratic revolution, liberated the South, reunified the country, and achieved important achievements in the construction of socialism today, striving to turn Vietnam into a basically modern industrialized country by 2020.
Minister Santilli and Ambassador Nguyen Van Dao together pulled the cloth covering the statue of Uncle Ho, officially inaugurating the project which has great significance for the friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
Attending the ceremony was Mr. Miguel Carlos Contreras, son of Mr. Miguel Contreras, one of the founders of the Argentine Communist Party and who met President Ho Chi Minh when the two leaders attended the 5th International Communist Congress in Moscow (Soviet Union) in 1924.
Mr. Miguel expressed his pride in having a father who had the opportunity to meet and talk with President Ho Chi Minh, and emphasized that the inauguration of the monument honoring him is a very important political event, because it means that Argentina, along with other South American countries, is following the example that Ho Chi Minh left for humanity to fight together for social justice, eliminate poverty and make the world a better place.
