Inauguration of Ho Chi Minh statue in Argentina

On August 30, the statue of President Ho Chi Minh was inaugurated in the capital Buenos Aires in a solemn ceremony attended by representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Culture, the city government and parliament, the Argentina-Vietnam Cultural Institute (ICAV), the Diplomatic Corps, and many friends of Vietnam.

Delegation of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of VietnamMale, led by Director of the Department of Fine Arts, Photography and Exhibition Vi Kien Thanh, also attended.

Speaking at the ceremony, Buenos Aires City Minister of Environment and Public Spaces, Diego Santilli, expressed the world's admiration for the Vietnamese people and President Ho Chi Minh in their struggle for national liberation, and emphasized that the monument is a symbol of friendship between the people of the two countries.

For his part, the Vietnamese AmbassadorMaleIn Argentina, Nguyen Van Dao highlighted the life and career of Uncle Ho.

Implementing his will, the Vietnamese people have completed the people's national democratic revolution, liberated the South, reunified the country, and achieved important achievements in the construction of socialism today, striving to turn Vietnam into a basically modern industrialized country by 2020.

Minister Santilli and Ambassador Nguyen Van Dao together pulled the cloth covering the statue of Uncle Ho, officially inaugurating the project which has great significance for the friendship and cooperation between the two countries.

Attending the ceremony was Mr. Miguel Carlos Contreras, son of Mr. Miguel Contreras, one of the founders of the Argentine Communist Party and who met President Ho Chi Minh when the two leaders attended the 5th International Communist Congress in Moscow (Soviet Union) in 1924.

Mr. Miguel expressed his pride in having a father who had the opportunity to meet and talk with President Ho Chi Minh, and emphasized that the inauguration of the monument honoring him is a very important political event, because it means that Argentina, along with other South American countries, is following the example that Ho Chi Minh left for humanity to fight together for social justice, eliminate poverty and make the world a better place.

During the official visitArgentinaOn April 16, 2010, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung presided over the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the statue of President Ho Chi Minh.

The monument is located in the park named after the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.Malelocated in District 12. The center of the monument is a bronze bust based on the model of sculptor Tran Van Lam.

At the end of the ceremony, attendees laid flowers at the foot of the monument to commemorate Uncle Ho.
