Inauguration of the Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara statue at Tu Pagoda (Nghi Loc)

(Baonghean.vn) -On the morning of January 31, the Buddhist Executive Committee of Nghe An province solemnly held the inauguration ceremony of the statue of Buddha Quan The Am at Tu Pagoda.

The 4m high, 10 ton statue, made of a single block of white stone, is placed in the center of the pagoda, on a 3m high pedestal made of reinforced concrete.

Tu Pagoda was built in 1860,in Phong Thai hamlet, Nghi Phong commune, Nghi Loc district today. However, qOver time and the ravages of war, the pagoda was completely destroyed. Now the pagoda has been restored according to Decision No. 1986 QD-UBND of Nghe An province dated June 6, 2012, to restore the historical relic, creating a peaceful and meditative space for Buddhists and tourists to worship.

On the occasion of the inauguration of the Buddha statue, the pagoda gave 25 gifts to poor households in Nghi Phong commune.
