(Baonghean) -As a remote mountainous district with many difficult conditions, the economic development is mainly small-scale, backward agricultural production. In recent years, the construction of concentrated production models has been implemented by Ky Son, opening up an effective production direction.

With the characteristics of a mountainous district, most of the land area for agricultural production in Ky Son is mountainous. Unfavorable terrain combined with shifting cultivation practices have caused the agricultural land area of Ky Son to quickly erode and become infertile. Instead of improving the land, people have expanded the area of swidden land on the hills and mountains. And wherever the swidden land develops, the hills and mountains are destroyed. Meanwhile, the long-term goal of Ky Son district is to develop production associated with forest protection. Ky Son has introduced the model of planting bo bo trees under the forest canopy to farmers. Up to now, the area of newly planted bo bo trees in the district is approximately 30 hectares. People are active in protecting and caring for the bo bo tree area, from which, forest protection is focused.

In addition, in recent years, hybrid corn has become one of the main crops, bringing high economic efficiency to farmers in Ky Son district, proving that the hybrid corn planting model on sloping land after the pilot has been successfully applied on a large scale. In 2005, the Department of Agriculture of Ky Son district implemented a pilot model of hybrid corn planting. After the successful pilot, hybrid corn yielded much higher than local corn, the plant was suitable for the climate here, and farmers were supported with 70% of the price of corn seeds and trained in science and technology. Up to now, the hybrid corn area is 2,600 hectares, accounting for over 90% of the corn area of the whole district, the hybrid corn yield is from 3 - 3.5 tons / 1 hectare; in 2012, the corn output was estimated at 12 thousand tons. Many families have earned tens of millions of VND from a corn crop. There are also hybrid peanut growing models, lily growing models, salmon farming models, etc.

From the above reality, it can be seen that agricultural development models have brought high economic value, but the difficulty is in replicating these models. The reason is that the implementation of models in the highlands still faces great difficulties due to inconvenient transportation and low level of intensive farming. On the other hand, every time a model ends, farmers often encounter difficulties in buying seeds for production and selling agricultural products because information on the market for seed supply and product consumption has not been paid attention to. When implementing the model, all farming households are supported with capital, seeds and techniques after the program ends, because they are no longer supported, farmers are no longer interested in continuing production. This characteristic comes from the mentality of waiting and relying on a large number of people in mountainous areas. Mr. Le Cong Tam - Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Ky Son district said: "To overcome that situation, in the coming time we will be more drastic in the direction. For the commune, we must attach the responsibility of replicating the model to the completion of the unit's tasks. At the same time, we must propagate to raise people's awareness, and must take direct models for people to see and follow."

In addition, for agricultural production models to be effective, strengthening and improving the quality of grassroots agricultural extension workers is also an extremely necessary factor. At the same time, it is necessary to create conditions for people to access preferential loans larger than before. And especially in the process of building and implementing models, it is necessary to choose the right subjects, those with needs and determination to rise up and get rich.
