To accurately grasp the situation of workers returning to work after Tet, the Southeast Economic Zone Trade Union has made a specific list from the grassroots level. Accordingly, the statistics show positive signs. Ms. Hoang Thi Huong - Chairwoman of the Southeast Economic Zone Trade Union said: "As of February 16 (ie January 7 of the lunar calendar), 74 enterprises under the management of the Southeast Economic Zone Management Board have returned to normal production activities. The rate of workers returning to work is generally quite high, reaching about 95% (about 16,510/17,380 workers returning to work). It is expected that by February 19 (ie January 10 of the lunar calendar), the entire industrial park will have about 29,000 workers returning to work".

Statistics from the Southeast Economic Zone Trade Union show that the labor situation after Tet has many positive signs, although production and business still face many difficulties.

In localities with many enterprises such as Nam Dan, Nghia Dan, Yen Thanh, Nghi Loc..., the rate of workers returning to enterprises reached 90%, and labor relations after Tet were stable.

According to information from the Department of Enterprises and Labor, Southeast Economic Zone Management Board, in 2024, a number of large enterprises will officially come into operation, the demand for labor recruitment will increase.continueincrease,Businesses are expected to hire about 15,336 more workers.

Efforts to retain employees

In addition to the positive signs of the labor situation, there are also some businesses that are facing labor shortages. In this situation, businesses have had their own programs and policies to motivate and retain employees.

Sharing about the common difficulties of enterprises, Mr. Nguyen Van Thuc - Head of the Department of Legal Policy, Labor Relations, Provincial Labor Federation said: "According to information from the grassroots, after Tet, the number of workers who lost their jobs was 2,769 people, belonging to 16 units. The reason for this situation is that enterprises lack raw materials for production, change of workplace, lack of orders... For example, at Fresscol Tunal Limited Liability Company (Dong Nam Economic Zone), due to lack of raw materials, nearly 1,300 workers are currently temporarily laid off; at Trong Phuc Garment Limited Liability Company (Quynh Luu district), due to lack of orders, the company is temporarily closed".

Some businesses are still maintaining business and production, but the worry of lack of orders and labor is still constant. “On the first working day of our company, the number of workers returning to work was quite high. However, on the second day, this number decreased. Some workers want to take more days off (unpaid leave), others want to take time off to find a new job, in a new environment. Many businesses are trying to build policies to attract new workers, so it is understandable that workers compare and look for better opportunities” – a representative of the Trade Union of Woosin Vina Limited Liability Company (Southeast Economic Zone) shared.

In the Southeast Economic Zone, most businesses carry out activities to motivate employees before and after Tet. Before Tet, the Tet Sum Vay program series is organized elaborately and systematically by the local trade union units with many practical support gifts. After Tet, businesses carry out meetings, lucky money, lucky draws, tug of war competitions at the beginning of the year, etc.

Putting themselves in the shoes of workers, some businesses also grasp the thoughts and wishes of workers to implement activities. “In previous years, we organized lucky draws after Tet to keep workers coming back to work. However, this year, following the wishes of many workers, the company decided to draw lots and give out all the gifts before Tet. Large items such as motorbikes, televisions, refrigerators, etc. were also brought home by workers to use during Tet. In addition, the company has also signed many more orders to ensure the work and income of workers. Although the return to work date has not yet come, with the efforts from the company, we believe that workers will stay with us for a long time,” said Mr. Phan Dinh Tai, Chairman of the Trade Union of Minh Anh - Kim Lien Garment Joint Stock Company.

Before that, the company also gave lucky money.for all employees in the company 50 thousand dong each. The amount is small but contributes to encourage and share with the workers. Currently, the company has about 1,000 workers and all have returned to work after the Tet holiday."
