The moment police shot dead the terrorist truck driver in France

Eyewitness video shows police surrounding a truck and shooting the driver after it plowed into a crowd celebrating Bastille Day in the southern French city of Nice, killing at least 84 people.

According to the Evening Standard, a witness filmed police approaching the vehicle during the intense shooting. Mohamed Lahouaiej, a 31-year-old French-Tunisian suspect, shouted as officers surrounded the truck and fired through the glass and windows.

At least 84 people died when a lorry ploughed into a crowd last night as people celebrated Bastille Day on the famous Promenade des Anglais in Nice, southern France.

French President Francois Hollande called it a "terrorist attack", declared three days of national mourning and extended the state of emergency for another three months. He called up reservists to reinforce the French police and gendarmerie, including citizens with or without military experience and former soldiers.

Many political and religious leaders around the world have condemned the attack and called for unity in the fight against terrorism.
