Construction of 12 North-South expressway projects in the East started in the fourth quarter
The Government aims to start construction of 12 projects of the North-South Expressway, phase 2, runways and Long Thanh Airport Terminal in the fourth quarter of 2022.
On the morning of May 23, presenting the Government's report to the National Assembly, Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh said that by the end of 2022, the 360 km North-South Expressway in the East, Phase 1, will be completed. Four component projects have been completed, including: Mai Son - National Highway 45; Cam Lo - La Son; Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet; Phan Thiet - Dau Giay.
The Government also submitted to the National Assembly for consideration and decision five key national projects with regional linkages, including: Chau Doc - Can Tho - Soc Trang; Bien Hoa - Vung Tau; Khanh Hoa - Buon Ma Thuot; Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3; and the Capital Region Ring Road 4.
The investment policy for the North-South Expressway project in the 2021-2025 period was approved by the National Assembly in January. The entire route is 729 km long, divided into 12 component projects operated independently in the form of public investment, with a total capital of VND146,990 billion.

In the coming time, the Government will focus on controlling the Covid-19 epidemic and quickly recovering and developing the economy and society sustainably. The resolutions of the 5th Central Conference will be urgently implemented, especially on land, collective economy, cooperatives, agriculture, farmers and rural areas. The Government will complete and submit to the National Assembly for consideration and amendment of the 2013 Land Law.
Strategic infrastructure for transportation, energy, digital infrastructure, agriculture, trade, healthcare, education, culture, society, etc. will be accelerated. An action plan to implement the Politburo's resolution on the development of the midland and mountainous regions of the North and the Mekong Delta will be issued.
In the fourth quarter of 2022, the Government will complete the project and submit it to the Politburo for promulgation of resolutions on the Red River Delta; North Central and Central Coast; Central Highlands; and Southeast.
The Government has determined to safely adapt to Covid-19, promote start-ups and innovation, and pay attention to developing social housing and housing for workers. In 2021 and the first 4 months of 2022, the Government has supported nearly 50 million workers; 728,000 employers with a total budget of nearly 82,000 billion VND.
According to the Deputy Prime Minister, Vietnam has effectively implemented the Covid-19 vaccination campaign, being one of the six countries with the highest vaccination coverage in the world. The whole country has vaccinated 217 million doses; 2 doses for all the population from 18 years old; the third dose reached nearly 60%. Children from 12 years old have basically received 2 doses; nearly 30% of children from 5 years old have received the first dose. Thanks to this result, the number of infections, severe cases, and deaths has decreased sharply since the end of March.

The work of preventing and combating corruption was carried out vigorously; economic violations of nearly 16,500 billion VND and 3,000 hectares of land were discovered; and recommendations were made to recover nearly 8,900 billion VND and 114 hectares of land. More than 400 groups and 800 individuals were recommended for consideration and administrative handling; 65 cases and 37 individuals were transferred to the investigation agency.
The Government has established a Prime Minister's working group to remove difficulties related to land projects in inspection, examination and judgment conclusions in a number of localities such as Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang and Khanh Hoa.
Crime prevention has been vigorously implemented, especially in the economic field, stock market manipulation, real estate, black credit, and cybercrime. The country has investigated and solved more than 10,000 cases, arrested 25,000 suspects for crimes against public order and society; and broken up 260 criminal gangs.
