Commencement of the traffic project connecting N5 road of Southeast Economic Zone to Hoa Son - Do Luong and Tan Long - Tan Ky

(Baonghean.vn) - The groundbreaking ceremony took place on the morning of August 7.The route is expected to become a traffic axis to develop the East-West economic corridor and create development momentum for the western districts of Nghe An province.

Attending the ceremony were Minister of Transport Dinh La Thang, Deputy Minister of Transport Nguyen Hong Truong, Chairman of the Transport Trade Union Do Nga Viet. On the side of Nghe An province, there were comrades: Nguyen Xuan Duong - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Huynh Thanh Dien - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Nguyen Hong Ky - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Director of Nghe An Department of Transport and representatives of departments, branches, and local people where the project passes through.

Director of the Department of Transport Nguyen Hong Ky said that the project, constructed by Hoa Hiep Company Limited and Tan Nam Joint Stock Company, is expected to be completed within 24 months from the commencement date.

According to the report of Nghe An Department of Transport, the project to invest in the construction of a road connecting N5 Road of the Southeast Economic Zone to Hoa Son - Do Luong and Tan Long - Tan Ky was approved by the Provincial People's Committee in Decision No. 2180/QD.UBND-GT dated June 1, 2015. The project is invested by Nghe An Department of Transport; Nano Design and Construction Joint Stock Company is the project consultant.

The route has a designed length of nearly 30km, a grade III road scale, a road surface width of 7m, and a road surface paved with Polymer asphalt concrete. At the time of commencement, due to difficulties in capital sources, Nghe An province will prioritize the construction of a 3.5km section, starting from Km25 + 00, Tan Son commune, Do Luong, and ending at Km28 + 500, intersecting with National Highway 7 in Hoa Son commune, Do Luong. The estimated investment level for this phase is 137 billion VND.

Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Xuan Duong assigned the Department of Transport and local authorities where the project passes to urgently implement compensation and site clearance work. He requested contractors to focus on human resources and equipment to implement the project to ensure progress and quality of the work.

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Xuan Duong emphasized: The groundbreaking of the traffic route connecting N5 Road of the Southeast Economic Zone to National Highway 7 is of utmost importance. After the project is completed, it will form a traffic route connecting the Southeast Economic Zone, Cua Lo Deepwater Port with the Western economic zone of the province. The route will create a driving force to promote socio-economic development, ensure national defense and security for the Western Nghe An region, contribute to improving cargo capacity, serving the need to transport raw materials and products from industrial parks and factories in the Western districts of Nghe An province to the plain districts. In particular, the project will serve the transportation of cement for the Song Lam Cement Plant (Do Luong) with a capacity of 4 million tons/year by the end of 2016 and the Song Lam 2 Cement Plant (Anh Son) with a capacity of 0.6 million tons/year.

This project also helps Nghe An province complete a synchronous and gradually modernized transport system as set out in Resolution 26 of the Politburo and Decision 2355 of the Prime Minister on approving the socio-economic development project of the western region of Nghe An province until 2020. However, due to limited local capital, only 3.5km has been implemented so far. It is hoped that in the coming time, Nghe An province will continue to receive attention and assistance in terms of capital to soon implement the remaining sections of the project./.
