Commencement of Vinh Urban Development Sub-Project
(Baonghean.vn) -On the morning of June 19, Vinh City People's Committee held a groundbreaking ceremony for the Vinh Urban Development Sub-project (under the Project for Developing Medium-sized Cities in Vietnam). Attending the ceremony were comrades: Ho Duc Phoc - Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Tran Hong Chau - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Huynh Thanh Dien - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Pham Anh Tuan - Secretary of the Vinh City Party Committee; Nguyen Xuan Sinh - Chairman of the Vinh City People's Committee and representatives of the World Bank WB.

The Vinh Urban Development Sub-project under the Vietnam Medium-sized Urban Development Project, with a total investment of 128 million USD, is implemented in 16 inner-city wards and 9 suburban communes. The project's objective is to enhance the City's infrastructure services through investment in basic infrastructure, improving environmental sanitation and roads, investing in upgrading and contributing to improving environmental conditions in canals, lakes, and school sanitation, in order to improve people's living conditions, meet the city's general development requirements, and reduce traffic congestion.

In addition, the project will provide technical support and capacity building for units managing and operating the city's technical infrastructure system, urban planning, management and finance, to ensure effective implementation, management and operation of project items, as well as sustainable development of the city. The Vinh Urban Development Sub-project consists of 4 components: Component 1 improves services and upgrades basic infrastructure; Component 2 improves environmental sanitation; Component 3 builds urban roads and bridges and Component 4 enhances capacity and provides technical support.

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Mr. Huynh Thanh Dien - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and the representative of the World Bank acknowledged and highly appreciated the efforts of the investor in implementing the project. In the coming time, Vinh province and city will pay attention, prioritize and create favorable conditions for the project to be implemented on schedule and effectively.
