Construction of Truong Bon Historical Relic Site and upgrading and expanding National Highway 15A commenced

(Baonghean.vn) -This morning, October 27, 2012, the People's Committee of Nghe An province, the Ministry of Transport, the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, and Vietnam Television jointly organized the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the Temple, Exhibition House, and Memorial of Truong Bon Historical Relic Site and the groundbreaking ceremony for the Project to Upgrade and Expand National Highway 15A, section Km 301+500 to Km 333+200, in My Son commune, Do Luong district.

Attending the ceremony were comrades: Nguyen Sinh Hung - Politburo member, Chairman of the National Assembly; former General Secretary Le Kha Phieu; comrade Ho Duc Viet - former Politburo member, former Head of the Central Organizing Committee; comrades of the Party Central Committee: Phan Xuan Dung - Chairman of the National Assembly's Committee for Science and Environment; Nguyen The Trung - Deputy Head of the Central Mass Mobilization Commission; Tran Binh Minh - General Director of Vietnam Television; Nguyen Xuan Thang - President of the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences; leaders of a number of central ministries and branches.

On the side of Nghe An province, there were comrades: Phan Dinh Trac - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Tran Hong Chau - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Ho Duc Phoc - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and comrades in the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee; leaders of departments, branches, veteran revolutionaries, former youth volunteers of different periods, Do Luong district and My Son commune and other provinces also attended.

Before the groundbreaking ceremony, the delegates came to offer incense and flowers at the Memorial House of the Youth Volunteer Heroes and Martyrs at Truong Bon Historical Site in My Son Commune, Do Luong District. The delegates expressed their infinite condolences and deep gratitude for the contributions and bravery of the Youth Volunteer Force in general, and the 13 heroic martyrs of Squad 2 of Company 317, Team 6, Nghe An Youth Volunteer Force in particular.

The opening speech of the ceremony was presented by Comrade Nguyen Xuan Duong - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, emphasizing: Truong Bon has an extremely important strategic position on the Ho Chi Minh trail. During the resistance war against the US to save the country, under the leadership of the Party Central Committee and directly the IV Military Region Command, the main army forces, Youth Volunteers, militia and people of Nghe An combined to form the strength of the people's war, with iron determination to keep the traffic bloodline open, connecting the rear with the front line. Countless blood and bones of thousands of army soldiers, militia and youth volunteers and workers in the transport sector were shed. And it is impossible to forget that on the morning of October 31, 1968, less than a day before the US announced the cessation of bombing in the North, 13 Youth Volunteers (including 11 women and 2 men) of Squad 2 of Company 317, Team 6, Nghe An Youth Volunteers were bombed by US aircraft and heroically sacrificed their lives while performing the task of leveling the last meters of road and making living markers for our military convoy to pass Truong Bon. Truong Bon has marked the generation of brave and resilient Youth Volunteers who contributed to writing a brilliant page in the history of the struggle for national liberation and are an example for today's young generation to learn and follow.

On the occasion of the 44th anniversary of Truong Bon victory, with the Vietnamese people's morality of "Drinking a wish, remembering the source", the Ministry of Transport, the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, Vietnam Television and the People's Committee of Nghe An province jointly organized the groundbreaking ceremony for the items: Temple, Exhibition House, Memorial under the Project: Preservation and restoration of Truong Bon Historical Relic Site and the groundbreaking ceremony for the project to upgrade and expand National Highway 15A through Truong Bon Historical Relic Site with a total investment of 175 billion VND. The investment capital comes from the State budget, contributions from domestic and foreign organizations and individuals. The project to upgrade and expand National Highway 15A from km301+500 to km333+200 with a total investment of 805 billion VND with a total length of about 32km.
