On the morning of February 19, in Nghia Dan, May Forestry Joint Stock Company held a groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the MDF Wood and Fiberboard Processing Factory. Attending the ceremony were comrades: Phan Dinh Trac - Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy of the Central Internal Affairs Commission, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Ho Duc Phoc - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and comrades in the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, and leaders of departments, branches and sectors in the province.

With investment consultancy from Bac A Commercial Joint Stock Bank, the MDF Wood and Fiberboard Processing Factory project is built within the framework of the project "Building a wood processing factory and developing sustainable forests in Nghe An" with a total investment of 500 million USD, including: Bar wood processing factory with a total investment of 150 million USD, capacity of 8,800 m3/year, expected to be operational within 6 months from the commencement date; MDF fiberboard processing factory with a total investment of 350 million USD, capacity of 400,000 m3/year, divided into 2 phases: phase 1: 130,000 m3/year (investment level of 100 million USD), expected to be operational in the first quarter of 2014; phase 2: 270,000 m3/year, operational in 2017.

The factory will apply advanced technologies and use modern, synchronous equipment lines 100% originating from Europe. The factory's wood products are of high quality and can compete in the US, Japanese and EU markets. The supplier of MDF fiberboard production equipment is Diffenbacher Company of Germany, currently the world's number one company in wood processing equipment. The design unit is NewCC Company from Japan, and the project management unit is Bureau Veritas Company (France), all of which are prestigious and experienced companies in this field. With such synchronous investment, the MDF technology wood and fiberboard processing factory will be the most modern factory in Southeast Asia.

On behalf of the provincial leaders, comrade Phan Dinh Trac and comrade Ho Duc Phoc affirmed that with the investment in equipment, technology and modern management processes, the factory will be a model for sustainable forest economic development combined with environmental protection and improvement, as well as bringing many socio-economic benefits, contributing to the transformation of crop structure, improving the ecological environment, creating jobs for thousands of workers, increasing income for farmers in the western region of Nghe An. On the province's side, it will create favorable conditions in terms of policies and mechanisms in attracting investment so that the MDF wood and fiberboard processing factory project can be implemented on schedule and after being put into operation, it will bring high economic efficiency, high profit rate, contributing to the budget revenue of Nghe An province.
