Construction of Ban Ang Hydropower Plant started
(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of April 12, at Ang village, Xa Luong commune, Tuong Duong district (Nghe An), Nghe An Energy Development Corporation and Nam Mo - Nam Non Hydropower Joint Stock Company held a groundbreaking ceremony for the Ang village Hydropower project.
Attending the groundbreaking ceremony, on the Central side, there were comrades: Senior Lieutenant General Pham Xuan Hung - Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army; Mr. Tran Viet Ngai - Chairman of the Vietnam Energy Association, Mr. Pham Trong Thuc - Director of the Department of Renewable Energy, Ministry of Industry and Trade.
On the side of Nghe An province delegates, there were comrades: Nguyen Ba - former Secretary of Nghe An Provincial Party Committee; Huynh Thanh Dien - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Dinh Viet Hong, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, and leaders of Tuong Duong district.

The Ban Ang Hydropower Project is built on the Nam Mo River (a main branch of the Ca River), consisting of 2 units with a capacity of 17 MW, about 12 km from Hoa Binh town (Tuong Duong). The project has a total investment of more than 550 billion VND, and is expected to be completed and put into operation after 26 months of construction, supplying about 70 million kWh/year to the national power system.
The investment in the construction of the Ban Ang Hydropower Plant will contribute to the structural shift and accelerate the local economic development. After generating electricity to the 110KV line, the project will provide more stable electricity to the districts along National Highway 7, especially during the rainy and stormy season.

Speaking at the ceremony, on behalf of Nghe An province's leaders, Mr. Huynh Thanh Dien highly appreciated the efforts of the investor and hoped that the investor would speed up the project implementation progress and pay attention to environmental protection. He also requested provincial departments and agencies and Tuong Duong district to create all favorable conditions and remove difficulties to help the investor quickly implement the project and put the factory into operation soon.
Also on the groundbreaking day, the investor and construction unit donated 600 million VND to Ang village to build roads and Ang village cultural house.
