In Vietnam, the 'Connecting Young Scientists' project aims to equip young scientists with important tools to seek research support and enhance international collaborations.

The program in Vietnam kicked off with two workshops on enhancing vaccine manufacturing and new advances and developments in telecommunications systems. The workshops were followed by a policy dialogue, where delegates discussed initiatives to strengthen the relationship between the government, businesses and universities and research institutions, contributing to the country’s sustainable development.

The dialogue was chaired by David Baghurst, Business Director of ISIS Asia, part of ISIS Limited, a company within the University of Oxford that specialises in commercialising the university’s scientific research. The policy dialogue discussed the role of business and intellectual property in commercialising scientific research results, sources of funding for research and innovation, as well as the overall picture of the science and technology sector in Vietnam.

With the proposal of a workshop on the topic of telecommunication systems, Leeds University (UK) and Danang University of Technology (DUT) were selected as partners in Vietnam of the program. The proposal from Aston University (UK) and Ho Chi Minh City Biotechnology Center, with the topic of biotechnology focusing on vaccine development, one of the hot issues in Vietnam today, also received funding from the program.

The 'Connecting Young Scientists' workshop programme in Vietnam attracts scientists from world-renowned institutions such as Cambridge University, Oxford University, UCL, Strathclyde University, Leeds University, Aston University and many others.
