(Baonghean) - Visiting the Tay Ho block carpentry village (Nam Dan town), the sounds of chisels, planers, and saws of wood can be heard from outside the alley. At this time, households in the village are racing against time for the Lunar New Year market.

The civil carpentry profession in Tay Ho block (Nam Dan town) has a long tradition. Previously, the civil carpentry profession at home was small-scale, the whole area had only 2 households specializing in carpentry, the products were mostly seasonal and time-consuming. Gradually, with the development of the market economy, the agricultural land area in the town narrowed, giving way to the urbanization process. People decided to "raise" the carpentry profession that had been built since their ancestors. Households proactively searched for raw materials, searched for markets and took advantage of all conditions for loans through many channels to maintain production. At the end of 2010, the civil carpentry village of Tay Ho block was recognized by the province as a craft village, attracting 16/30 specialized households, of which 10 households had large-scale production, the products of the craft village were mainly popular items such as tables, chairs, beds, doors, cabinets, box frames, etc.

After nearly 10 years in the profession, Ms. Tong Thi Hong and her husband have modern production equipment. She said: they have to buy wood materials in many localities such as Nam Dan, Do Luong, Thanh Chuong, and almost have to buy in retail. The main types of wood used are doi, vang tam, de... Currently, her facility has been equipped with 15 machines, such as saws, saws, planers, grinders, replacing manual work.

Mr. Phan Cong Hoi's civil wood production model has billions of dong invested in modern machinery, building factories, product display houses, and purchasing raw materials. Mr. Hoi said: the price of raw wood at this time is more expensive than every year by 4 - 5 million dong/cubic meter, near Tet, 10 people are needed to make it (salary of 2 - 3 million dong/month). On average, about 5 - 6 sets of products are sold per month, near Tet, nearly 10 sets of products are sold per day, the most expensive table and chair set costs 15 million/set, the cheapest is about 10 million/set, beds and wardrobes are about 3 - 4 million/piece, each month he earns a profit of over 6 million dong. Tay Ho craft village products are mostly sold in Nam Dan district, some households expand their markets to other provinces.

According to Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan - Vice Chairman of Nam Dan Town People's Committee: In 2010, the Craft Village received 50 million from the fund of the Provincial Industrial Promotion Center, in addition, there was no capital to support and invest in production and business for people. To encourage the development of the craft village, the Town invested 54 million VND, opening carpentry classes for young people in the block. Currently, the craft village is facing difficulties, which are investment capital for production and business, infrastructure and the problem of dust and noise pollution. Especially the "hottest" problem today is still the problem of dust and noise, affecting the production environment and the lives of people around.

The People's Committee of Nam Dan Town has planned a concentrated production area for the craft village, with a total planned area of 1.82 hectares, of which the capital to solve the land issue alone is nearly 2 billion VND. The people of the civil carpentry village are looking forward to the attention of the district and Nam Dan Town in connecting the output market for the products and paying attention to environmental issues to stabilize production.
