Previously, through reconnaissance and situational awareness, soldiers discovered many fake files and papers to enjoy war invalids and Agent Orange benefits. The Police Department for Investigation of Crimes on Economic Management and Positions (Nghe An Police) established a special project with code 615TB headed by Colonel Nguyen Xuan Thiem. Colonel Thiem said that in addition to prosecuting Dang Hong Tu, the police will expand the investigation into the case and clarify other related subjects in this network. In addition, the investigation will be expanded into files of those receiving Agent Orange benefits and war invalids who show signs of using fake documents.
Article 266 of the Penal Code stipulates: 1. Anyone who corrects or falsifies the contents of a passport, visa, household registration, civil status or other types of certificates and documents of an agency or organization and uses such documents to commit illegal acts causing serious consequences or has been administratively sanctioned for such acts but still commits the violation, shall be subject to a warning, a fine of from one million to ten million VND, non-custodial reform for up to three years or imprisonment from six months to three years. 2. Committing a crime in one of the following cases shall be punishable by imprisonment from two to five years: A) Organized; B) Committing the crime multiple times; C) Causing very serious or especially serious consequences. 3. The offender may also be fined from one million to five million VND, banned from holding positions, practicing a profession or doing certain jobs from one to five years. |
