(Baonghean.vn)- On August 24, according to news from Dien Chau district police, they initiated a case and prosecuted the defendant Le Thanh Long (born in 1978, residing in hamlet 8, Dien Yen commune) for intentionally damaging property.

Previously, Dien Chau district police received many reports from small traders, businesses, and contractors in Dien Yen commune about a group of people who specialized in demanding protection money. Long was the leader. Not only that, passenger cars in Anh Son, Quynh Luu, and Nghia Dan districts, every time they passed through National Highway 48 through Dien Yen commune, were asked by Long for protection money.

At around 11pm on July 7, Long forced 5 Mai Linh taxis to park at the designated parking lot and demanded protection money. However, the 5 drivers did not listen. Seeing this, Long used a baton to smash the windows of the 5 taxis.

Using professional measures, the police investigation agency of Dien Chau district collected evidence and arrested Le Thanh Long immediately afterward.

Through investigation, the subject confessed to his crime. Currently, the police have initiated a criminal case and prosecuted Le Thanh Long for intentionally damaging property./.
