Prosecution of subjects buying and selling rare turtles
On the way back from work near his house, Long caught two turtles. To have money to spend, Long brought the two golden turtles to Thach Giam town to sell.
The Investigation Police Agency of Tuong Duong District Police (Nghe An) has just issued a decision to prosecute Lau Nhi Long (born in 1973), residing in Nam Can Commune, Ky Son District, Nghe An Province, for violating regulations on protection of wildlife.endangered, precious, rare animalsprescribed in Clause 1, Article 244 of the Penal Code.

Previously, at about 05:50 on July 14, 2024, at Hoa Dong block, Thach Giam town, Tuong Duong district, the District Police Working Group, during a patrol, inspected, discovered and seized 02 turtles (later identified as Northern yellow-fronted box turtles) on the shelf in front of Lau Nhia Long's motorbike.
Lau Nhi Long confessed that in early June 2024, on his way home from work on the farm, he caught the two turtles. To have money to spend, Long brought the two golden turtles to Thach Giam town to sell. However, before he could sell them, he was checked and arrested by the police.
The two turtles were handed over to the Pu Mat National Park Wildlife Rescue Center. The case is currently under further investigation and handling in accordance with the law.
It is known that since the beginning of the year, Tuong Duong District Police have prosecuted 3 cases and 3 subjects for violating regulations on the protection of endangered, precious and rare animals.
