Prosecution of former General Director of Bao Viet Group
The three defendants include Tran Trong Phuc (53 years old), Ta Van Can (52 years old), and Tran Minh Thai (39 years old) on the charge of "lack of responsibility causing serious consequences".
On the afternoon of April 21, the Investigation Police Agency, Ministry of Public Security, simultaneously issued a decision to prosecute the case, prosecute the accused and search 3 accused including Tran Trong Phuc (53 years old), former General Director of Bao Viet Group and General Director of Bao Viet Insurance Corporation; Ta Van Can (52 years old), former Chief Accountant of Bao Viet Insurance Corporation; Tran Minh Thai (39 years old), former Accountant of Bao Viet Insurance Corporation, for the crime of "lack of responsibility causing serious consequences" as prescribed in Article 285 of the Penal Code. At the same time, preventive measures were applied to the 3 accused above.

According to regulations, this unit is not allowed to approve insurance commission payments to agents, but the unit still approved the payments. In particular, from 2009 to 2011, at Bao Viet Ben Tre Company, this unit still paid commissions to agents. This practice lasted for a long time, but the above-mentioned defendants still did not conduct inspections and supervision to grasp the situation and handle it, lacking responsibility leading to approving the final settlement for Bao Viet Ben Tre Company in the 3 years mentioned above, causing damage to the State of about 4.5 billion VND.
The case is being further investigated by the investigation agency to clarify the responsibilities of a number of individuals involved.
