Prosecution of former Head of Hung Xa Commune Telecommunications Station (Hung Nguyen) for embezzlement of property
(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of May 3, 2012, Lieutenant Colonel Bui Trong Tue - Deputy Chief of Hung Nguyen District Police said that this agency has just issued a decision to prosecute the case against Vo Quoc Viet (born in 1974, former Head of Hung Xa Commune Telecommunications Station (Hung Nguyen) for embezzlement of property.
From the end of 2010 to 2011, Viet discussed many times with the deputy station and the workers in the station to collect the recovered cables and sell them at the Hung Xa Commune Telecommunication Station for over 80 million VND to share. Specifically, in December 2010, Viet discussed with Hung (a worker), in April 2011, Viet discussed with Duc (the deputy station), Manh, and Tan, employees in the Telecommunication Station, to continue to collect the cables and sell them. On October 17, 2011, Hung surrendered to the Hung Nguyen District Police Department. Knowing that he could not escape the crime, on October 18, 2011, Viet also surrendered to the Hung Nguyen District Police Department.
Considering that Viet is a party member, the station chief was assigned the task of operating and managing assets and people, but due to greed, he arbitrarily took collective assets and sold them for personal use, with the total loss of assets exceeding 84,000,000 VND. Not only that, Viet also lured most of his subordinates to commit crimes (except for those who went to school). Hung Nguyen district police have prosecuted defendant Vo Quoc Viet for embezzlement of assets. Currently, they are considering continuing to prosecute Duc, Manh, and Tan. Hung was sentenced to 9 months in prison by Hung Nguyen district court for theft of assets.
The head of the Hung Nguyen District Post and Telecommunications Station also said that the agency has decided to suspend Vo Quoc Viet from work. Tran Quang Duc, the station's deputy, is currently temporarily transferred to work as a worker.
