Prosecution of group of young men who threw mines at engagement ceremony
(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of January 5, Hoang Mai Town Police announced that they had prosecuted Nguyen Van Thuy (26 years old), Nguyen Van Tuan (22 years old) and 10 other defendants residing in Quynh Phuong Ward for disturbing public order in the mine explosion at an engagement party in Hoang Mai Town.
Previously, on the night of December 24, 2013, Mr. Mach Quang Hanh (62 years old) and Mrs. Dau Thi Thanh (60 years old) in Quynh Phuong ward held an engagement ceremony for their third daughter, Ms. Mach Thi Ngan, at their home. After the groom's family was about to leave, suddenly about 20 young men from the street rushed in. Dozens of these young men rushed into the house with iron pipes, knives, and swords to blatantly assault the couple in front of both families.
At Mr. Hanh's family, they assaulted many people in the house, causing injuries; then used iron pipes to smash and destroy motorbikes. Not stopping there, this group of young men brazenly used 5 homemade mines to throw into the house. The first mine the group threw at the crowd and children but did not explode, both families panicked and ran away. Next, the group of young men continued to throw 4 more mines, 3 of which exploded. The explosion caused many people to panic and fear; from inside the house to the yard, there were traces of the explosion.

On the night of the incident, the town police arrested three suspects; the next day, five others turned themselves in.
According to Hoang Mai Town Police, the above defendants had a conflict with Mach Quang Nghia (22 years old, Mr. Hanh's son). Because they could not meet Nghia, on the night of December 24, 2013, they went to Nghia's sister's engagement party to cause trouble.
The case is currently being handled by the authorities according to the law./.
