Northeast bus driver prosecuted for causing fatal accident and fleeing

(Baonghean.vn)- After causing a serious accident, driver Le Xuan Tham took the victim's motorbike away from the scene, parked it at a house on the side of the road, and then called the company to inform them.

On August 3, the Investigation Agency of Nghi Loc District Police initiated a case and indicted Le Xuan Tham (46 years old), residing in Block 4, Dien Chau town, for the crime of "Violating regulations on controlling road vehicles" leading to death.

At around 1:30 p.m. on July 15, on National Highway 1A, in Nghi Yen commune, Nghi Loc district, the Northeast bus, license plate 37B - 000.47, driven by Le Xuan Tham, was traveling from Vinh to Hanoi. When reaching the intersection between the old National Highway 1A and the new National Highway 1A, it collided with a motorbike with license plate 37F1-5530, traveling in the same direction, driven by Ms. Le Thi Lan, residing in Nghia Minh commune, Nghia Dan district, carrying Mr. Tran Son Ha (Ms. Lan's husband).

As a result, both husband and wife fell on the street. Mrs. Lan was seriously injured and died the same day at the Provincial General Hospital.

It is worth mentioning that after causing a serious accident, driver Le Xuan Tham took the victim's motorbike away from the scene, parked it at a house on the side of the road, then called the company to inform them to take the motorbike to the parking lot of the Dong Bac Bus Company in Trung Do ward, Vinh city.

Upon receiving the report, the Nghi Loc District Police Investigation Agency arrived at the scene to carry out the required procedures. However, when they arrived at the scene of the traffic accident, the only evidence left at the scene was skid marks on the road.

After receiving information from the people, the Nghi Loc District Police investigation agency requested the Dong Bac Bus Company to send Le Xuan Tham, the person who caused the accident, driving the car with license plate 37B - 000.47, to report.

At the investigation agency, driver Le Xuan Tham admitted to the acts of "Violating regulations on road traffic control" leading to the death of Ms. Lan and the injury of Ms. Lan's husband.

Dien Chau town police said: Tham is a long-time drug addict, and was taken to a local drug rehabilitation center by the town police. Previously, Tham was sentenced to 2 years in prison by the Dien Chau District People's Court for illegal possession of drugs. After completing her prison sentence, Tham returned to her hometown to get married. More than a month ago, Tham applied to be a driver for the Nghe An branch of the Dong Bac Bus Company, when she caused the above accident./.
